WOW...surgery date JUNE 5th!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Can't believe that I will be having my surgery on June 5th!!! It's getting so close now. I am nervous, yet soooo excited! Really wanting to be in a good online support group...since I live in a very small town and pretty isolated there is nothing avaliable here in regards of support groups...so hoping that I will get some great feedback and support...good luck to you all!!:001_tongue:

Hi there

You're in good company....and will be able to get the support you need on here - like a lot of us who aren't able to go to a support group.

You're 5 days ahead of me... so you have a head start on me - so good luck... let us know how you get on.

Kathy

Thankfully everything has gone very smoothly for me, I only used my pain pump twice in the hospital and took nothing for pain after that and I had no gas pains. In the beginning when I had more swelling and thus more restriction I had a hard time learning to eat slowly but that finally passed. I am SO very happy with my decision to get sleeved, I am sure you will be too!

Nice to hear that you had a good experience with your sleeve Robbie, i am hoping that i will have the same with mine. I have myself mentally prepared that it will be painful just incase ha! but probably not prepared as much as i think!!! Yes, i am just doing the waiting game now, i started my pre-op today which includes some Protein Shakes and some Soup, which is not too bad! Anyway, thanx for replying and hoping that mine will go smoothly as well....good luck with the rest of your journey, i am looking forward to being on your side now!!!:001_tt2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
