Support board blues

Recommended Posts

Carolyn, I know what you mean. My sense of what people are doing when they air their "bad" behaviors is that they are writing it out mostly for themselves. No one needs to be TOLD that certain behaviors do not encourage weight loss; that is one area in which we are ALL experts, or we wouldn't have gotten here in the first place.

The act of writing such a post is in itself helpful--it lets the poster get the truth down in words that can be read back, making it easier to fight the subconsious desire for that next potato chip. We're here to help OURSELVES, mostly, and exchange information that can help people considering taking the banding step. Lecturing people having trouble is not going to further either of those aims.

Just guessing here, Nancy, but did you notice the thread *Jill* started over there?

Holy Cow Sue... I don't even have purchase paperbacks anymore... the "Sandy RN" saga is a real page turner... well... that and finding out what your next screen name will be!

Wow, I can't believe the interest this thread stirred up. No, Sue, I did not see the thread *Jill* started. I've been out of town for a while and away from the internet (after all my whining about people not being active enough here). Was it recent? I'll have to go over there and read all about it.

TexasBelle, I think you are right about this being a kinder and gentler board. That's what I love about it.

I LOVE THIS BOARD!!!! I know about the finger pointing and yelling and just down right meanness of some of the other boards. I read a post once that made me want to "Matrix" to another individual and kick the h#ll out of them. This one person needed help and then some sanctimonious bandster gave them the third degree...Needless to say I have not been back to that board! I POST here for the advice and the support. I READ elsewhere just to see what else is out there being discussed...oh yeah...did I mention I love this board??!!??

You know me. And Nancy. And Donali. But it does provide like a KICKBOXING version of this site. In fact, this site was started by someone from over there.

Right!:D I do know you and Donali not too sure who Nancy is,what her name here?I also know Darcy.

But what i meant was, i didn't know Jill and Sandy.

Thanks to whoever started this site...I love it and it is so

unbelievably reassuring to have all of you here!

I was majorly lost the first year and kept asking my doctor if he could ask any of the other patients if we could exchange #'s but of course he just ignored me.Then i stumble across this place.

I learned to ask/insist for the stinking fills and quit accepting the fact that my Dr thought i was fine without it!I lost 15 pounds the first year.

That's just a smilie that doesn't work. People are trying to create the picture associated with the code ": phanvan" which is a sort of puzzled look, but the combination of the colon : and the letter p in succession create the stick-out-tongue smilie instead. So what we see instead of the puzzled face we want is this :phanvan

Which is not what the person wanted, clearly.

I don't know how to fix or program the smilies, only the owner can do that.

Hi, Chantal! I'm Nancy, otherwise known as claraluz and I started this thread in a moment of mild frustration.

Sue - just went over and read all of the Sandy hullabaloo. Wow. It's a shame that one person can hijack a board and incite people who then waste a lot of time and energy being mad and posting about it, which unfortunately, won't change a thing.

I love this board, too. And now that I'm back from my travels, I'm staying here and hope that I can give others here the same encouragement I've gotten. Which brings me to my next thread, one I would never post on any other board for fear of getting berated . . .

Nancy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
