Does anyone know if it's ok to take a muscle relaxer?

I bent over to pick some clothes up off the floor this morning and felt my back go out. I went to a new chiro today and he took a bunch of x rays.

He actually thinks we can reverse some of the damage of the degeneration and also the bulging disc. He noted that my right hip is lower than the left and that the pelvis on the left side is tilted and that my left shoulder is higher than the right and rounding to the front instead of straight. Also the curves in my spine aren't where they're supposed to be since I'm all out of whack.

What does all that mean? EXTREME PAIN!

I normally don't like to take things that make me feel cuckoo but I'm really hurting here.

I have zero medication restrictions. Now, there are other surgeons that do not want their VSG patients taking certain drugs. But, I've taken an entire slew of different prescriptions since my sleeve without issue except sterile gut on heavy duty antibiotics.

I can't imagine the pain you are in. I get a crick in my neck and I'm whining for some Aleve.

Just no NSAIDS, i take oxycontin SR for my back pain, and muscle relaxers are okay, like valium or Xanax. I know for back pain. Good luck with bulging discs. Sometimes they will shrink back. Be very gentle, and try and rest.

In the book I got at Dr. Davidson's seminar, it lists drugs that are ok and not ok after sleeve surgery and Flexeril is on the OK list. I noticed because I have a prescription for it and take it occasionally when my back bothers me or when I have a crick in my neck. Hope you feel better soon!

I was in a car accident a few weeks ago and was prescribed Flexeril. I hesitated to take it but after day 5 I had to. I havent had any negative effects. Does its job WELL.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
