Devo 0 Posted May 24, 2010 Has anyone gained any weight? I am almost 4 weeks out. I was down 17 lbs then gained 1/2 - 1 pound but ended up loosing another 2 1/2 pounds over the past week or so. Then woke up this morning to a 2 pound weight gain overnight! What is up with this? Extremely frustrating. I am on the treadmill 2 miles a day. The only thing I did differently yesterday is I had two slices of cheese with 4 slices (very thin) deli chicken at about 9pm. I don't usually eat that late but felt very hungry. That cannot possibly be the reason could it?
goodlife 3 Posted May 24, 2010 I think it's normal to fluctuate...it could be Water retention.
Stacy160 201 Posted May 24, 2010 First, don't panic... get used to it, because it happens to everyone! That's why they say you should only weigh once a week, because daily fluctuations are totally normal. It's more about holding and releasing Water from the muscles. Also don't freak when you hit a stall and the scale doesn't move for a week or two--get prepared for it mentally, KNOW it's gonna happen eventually and probably more than once, and that if you just keep on keepin' on the program, it'll break. That's also largely a Water thing with them muscles, it's something to do with the glycogen in them hanging on to water. It's not at all unusual for someone to stall for a couple of weeks but still feel their clothes getting looser... then one day five or six pounds might disappear overnight. You're normal, just try not to get too obsessed with the scale, 'cause the thing lies!
Devo 0 Posted May 25, 2010 gotcha, thanks for the encouragement. I have been going nuts with the scale. told myself today that is it, I am only going to start weighing once a week from here on out. it is too emotionally painful!!!
CraftyChristie 62 Posted May 25, 2010 My surgeon actually recommends no more than once every OTHER week to weigh in!! I am planning to weigh in at my 1 week post op, 3 week post op, 6 week post op, and then either every other week or only monthly after that. I have no desire to play guessing games with the scale I am just going to do my thing.
Devo 0 Posted May 26, 2010 excellent advice, I am going to start weighing in every week and if that gives me fits then I'll cut it back even more. hope you are doing well!
