I'm having my consult tomorrow with the surgeon that will perform the VGS if I decide to go through with it.

I want to know if there is anyone here who regrets getting this surgery and why? TIA for taking the time to respond.

I am only 3 days post op but I don't have regrets. I am still recovering and learning the feel of my sleeve - but not a single regret

I've seen this question posted plenty of times and I've yet to see anyone answer that they were sorry they had the surgery.

I am 2 1/2 months post-op and have lost 47 lbs...NO REGRETS!!! Still eat what I want, still have my wine, etc. I do miss soda, but who really needs it when there is Propel? Good luck!

Well, when I thought that every single day was going to be a battle with acid reflux, yes, I regretted my surgery.

But it turns out that 99% of that was my fault -- I was eating and drinking too much, too fast. Now that I'm meticulously following the doctor's and nutritionist's guidelines, the reflux is much, much better and I don't have any regrets. I've already lost 30 lbs from my pre-surgery weight at 2 1/2 weeks out (15 lbs from my surgery day weight).

I am two months out today. I am truly grateful that with the help of the sleeve I am making steps to make myself healthier. It feels so great. But, with that said you do have to do the work. You do have to make good choices day in and day out. And when you lose what was a coping mechanism for you emotionally you can become uncomfortable. I have realized that I have avoided discomfort in life at all costs and that is an immature and unrealistic way to live, I am having to allow myself to feel some of those things now rather than numbing it with food, but guess what even that discomfort is a gift to myself. So.....after all my rambling, I would do it again tomorrow. No regrets.

Hi, I do not have any regrets, except I agree that I wish I had done this sooner, but if I had I'm afraid that I probably would have ended up with the lap-band, so I think things happen for a reason and am truly grateful for my sleeve. LOVE IT,LOVE IT! I feel that it's given me all the control that I have been desperately searching for, for years. I chose the sleeve so that I could have the occasional treat and not physically suffer, and so that I could make the right decisions ( like I used to ) BUT not feel deprived all the time...and it worked. So far so good..

good luck to you!:crying:

8 weeks out and no regrets other than the fact that I didn't have this surgery available to me when I was younger. So many years of my life could have been so much better...

No way, no regrets, just wish I could have had it done sooner. Getting my life back and loving it.

Good Luck,

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
