Do I really have to do clear for 1 week...

Recommended Posts

I am doing much better today on day 4 but I really just want some pudding or something with some substance. Did everyone wait the full 7 days to go onto full liquids? Maybe it's just my stomach talking which actually has a feeling today and i'm excited for:thumbup:! Pain is gone and I have been off my pain meds since day 2! I am finally starting to feel like me again and it's so nice..just wondering if I might could try some pudding tomorrow on day 5or even day 6 or should I wait for the full 7?

I did clears for 17 days, my surgeon's guideline for all his sleeve patients is 14 days of clears.

I wouldn't progress the diet faster than suggested by your own surgeon. Your stomach is healing, I know clears suck, but try to hold out for a couple more days.

Just my 2cents.

My surgeon told me I could drink thin Protein Drinks so maybe you can make extra thin soupy like pudding? I would give your surgeon a call first and ask. Best wishes to you on your WL journey.

Follow the guidelines you were given and you will be more confident in your weight loss! Believe me, once you have more options for food, it also gives you more opportunity to go over on carbs. Time really is flying for me so just focus on getting a variety in what you can have right now and plan for the switch to full liquids when it is permitted. I had to do clears for 10 days, it is all just a memory now and I am on day 13! Best of luck!

Thanks guys I ate some Soup earlier and feel pretty good now, just getting tired of the same things! I only have to be clear until Tues. and then I can start on full liquids and then start my soft. I can make it I know I can it's all worth it in the end:lol0:!

Hey there...

GO GATORS! My husband and I are both UF alumni. Do you live in FL? I'm in Cape Coral.

I was sleeved on April 5th. I had some pudding I think on day 5 or day 6. My doctor called and I asked him if I could try and he said yes. I could only eat about a tablespoon at that point, though.

Good luck to you. I'm almost 2 months out...it gets easier!

@Samie- yes I do I live just north of Jacksonville! We have our season tickets and are always in g-ville come game day! Everyone keeps saying it does get easier and I know it will:biggrin0: I only have till tues so i'm hoping to stick it out until then but if not I might ask my Dr. the same thing. I'm actaully able to eat a whole thing of jell-o just takes me about 15 mins which I hope is normal:tongue_smilie: How are things at 2 months out?

Like everyone else said, it does get eaiser .. I wouldn't push it although the craving to bite or chew can get pretty strong. I had no desire to chew and I actually enjoyed the fluids so by the time I went to puree/soft foods, I still find comfort in the liquids from time to time. You will find your pace in what works for you as time goes by but stick to the guidelines while you are healing. Best of luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
