Well I'm home..got sleeved wed. and came home thurs! I am doing okay with evrything only it's really hard to drink liquid like my Water. I can do Jello and my sf popsicles which have been my saving grace but there's so much swelling that I can feel it going down and it hurts slightly. I didn't know if anyone else had this problem. My inscisons are doing great and really don't hurt it's mostly thr air, gas and swelling. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats on getting your sleeve. I drank warm liquids a lot because they "felt" better going down. Even to this day, I drink warm liquids because it relaxes my stomach.

It does get better, hang in there.

Well, I can only tell you my experience. It was around day 4 when liquids started going a little easier. I was taking little tiny sips until around day 8 or 9. Now, one month out I have no trouble drinking. I used to drink a lot of plain Water before surgery... now I seem to need a little crystal light or something. Plain water doesn't do it for me anymore.

I looked kinda pregnant when I came home I was so swollen....but other parts were swollen too...my ankles hands everything.

After about 5 days it went away....except the tummy that took a little longer.

Try walking to get rid of some of the gas. It helps. The broth is a good idea. If you cannot drink it full strength, dilute it with Water. Good luck.

Congratulations! I had the same kind of discomfort when I swallowed anything immediately after surgery. It wasn't a burning pain (like with a sore throat), it was more a pressure pain between my breast as the food went down. It was a little scary because I worried about whether or not it would really go away. For me it has gradually resolved and I started to feel much better after the first month. I still feel something similar if I drink too quickly. I also start to feel discomfort in the same area if I eat too much or too quickly--but not like right after surgery, and not all the time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
