I hate to wish my life away, but I can't wait to see everyone next weekend for lunch! :hungry: I am doing great! Maybe I have a high pain tolerance, but I cannot believe how easy this has been! :clap2: The weight loss with the liquid diet has been phenomenal too!

As for things I miss, I look forward to being able to take a long hot bubble bath. :) I look forward to spending time in the pool. I also look forward to riding my motorcycle!

Jill, I'm sorry I didn't answer your questions sooner. I didn't bother with STD cause I have more PTO than I'll likely use this year. You also asked how long I was at the hospital? I got there at 8 a.m., went into surgery around 9:15 a.m., and went home around 2-2:30 p.m.

Kim I hope you are feeling better.

Anyone else have a problem with being tighter now tha it is hotter. I swell up bad in the summer (fingers and such) and now that I'm banded, I'm having trouble eating solids at lunch when its HOT out. dinner is still okay...but I have to be careful. I was eating pretzels and Water the other day and got stuck. I'm talking hard snack type of pretzels. It has become habit for me to drink something warm before eating. Do you know how hard it is to find hot coffee some days? LOL I was able to eat about 5 pieces of tofu yesterday after drinkin 1/2 a cup of coffee. Last night I was able to eat 1/2 a biscuit (I know crazy crazy tht I can eat at night), almost 2 eggs, and a slice of bacon super crispy.

I haven't lost any weight recenty...I'm actually back up 2lbs, but I have lost inches because I can get into two pair of goal jeans that I couldn't get fasten before my fill. And they fit comfortablly...well if you get over the fact that they are so low waisted that I'm afraid my booty is going to pop right out the back when I sit. LOL

Well gotta go get karah ready to go to her recital.

P'Nut oh I am so sorry we will miss you...you will have to keep us posted on the next visit...we go out of our way to our banded buddies. :)

Thanks ladies I am feeling A LOT better today. It's so weird the way I was feeling. I was afarid it was going to be a bad day but it turned out good. Thanks so much for thanking of me.

Melissa I am sorry you are having problems...that is weird. I know I sometimes think I need a fill and then I go a few days PBing on everything. Go Figure...So I haven't gotten anything since March. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago to Dr V but with me getting sick I just haven't wanted it. I do have to say today for some reason I am stuffed full all day. Which is a good thing but wow it's working great today. Hey girl when do you leave for that great vacation?

Dianne I am sorry I am going to miss you...don't schedule appt's on Mondays and you will see me there. Night time eating isn't so bad for me. I guess the drinking the Water is helping out in the eveings. That is one think Bobbie talked about in our support group is sometimes we mistake hunger for thrist and sometimes if our body is low on a vit then it makes us crave things. It was very interesting....I have noticed I was mistaken hunger for actually not getting in enough fluids.

Have we heard from Karen today? Kathy where are you? Angie have you made it back home yet? Vicki how is life w/ the band going? Wavy where are you?

Hope ya'll have a great night...

I'm back at work today. I had 190 e-mails waiting for me! I'm still doing great!

I am going to have a second series of spinal injections tomorrow. If they are as effective as the first, they should take care of the rest of my pain. By time they wear off, I hope to be down enough that the pain will not recur.

Outside of some bruising, my incisions look awesome! No stitches or staples here; so they must have glued me close. Kim, I'll get to see you on Friday for my post-op :)

Glad to see your tummy feeling better Kim. I hate to have an upset stomach and with those stupid antibiotics for the h pylori, my stomach is not a happy camper. With food, no food, lots to drink, not lots, still getting upset stomach. only 6 more days of it left. Still no "itchies" , but I am figuring I will be soon. I did fall into a marketting trap and buy the new Bryer's light yogurt with Probiotics (ta-da). Made me feel like i was just doing a little more for the situation.

And other than that, and driving my new car, I havent done much.

I do have scream HOOORRRAAAY !!!! for no more mini van.

I hated that thing.

I have a Pontiac G6 green, with sun roof.

I looooove my new car. I am a pontiac girl.

Its fun and has a killer sound system in it. I drive around listening to "Du Hast" by Rammstein almost all the way up.

Yea,,, they are a German metal band. But, I also listen to Enya cranked on the stereo too.

Melissa, I need your tri-lingual brilliant daughter to translate it.

I know half of it... but some words I cant understand what he is screaming at me. :)

So thats me in a nut shell.

I'm gonna call Dr B friday to see what's the status of my paperwork.

He's got everything. I just wanna know when he is gonna review it and send it to the INS.

Hello all...it's been quite on here lately...I guess everyone is busy. I know I am. Got a fill this afternoon...not much but I thougth 3 was too much so we went to 2.9. Pamela our PA did it and she was great. Don't tell Dr V but I think it was the best one I ever had. She was so excited she pulled out excatly what we thought was in the band. So that is good...

Ok now a little vent...we have so many people wanting the band @ work but becuse of their insurance they want cover it. UGH...do you know upset that makes me. But one day more insurance companies will cover it. I hope...it's such a great tool.

Wavy - have you worn out that car yet? See I want the mini van - we need it and we only have one child. How bad is that?

Dianne is out and about againg...how jealous she is meeting a fellow bandster. Lucky here.

Alright love to all and will see you saturday!!!

Car is going vrrrroooommmmmmm!

**does Jedi mind trick hand wave***

You do not want a mini van

Welll, you might.. if you want to have more kids, go on long trips and pack too much junk.

One's enough for me. I'd rather have a nice sporty sedan! Like my G6 in the garage!

Oh by the way, Dr B's office called me, they have everything in order to send to ins company!!!! Woooohoooo!

Hello,

How is everyone doing? I'm doing good. Sorry to have missed lunch, my daughter has been sick since Tuesday and I'm trying to let her ride it out.

She doesn't have a fever anymore but she's got a nonstop cough. She was very tired yesterady, ofcourse not too tired to go to build a bear and make two hello kittie's one for her cousin in NY and one for herself.

As for me - the rest of the month looks busy. Monday DH has school, Tuesday I'm supposted to attend orientation for Strayer, WEdnesday Dh has exams and think Chloe might have her well child check. I might have to move it up since he has an exam. Thursday were going to swim in the ocean. We should be back MOnday. I am going to the back specialist on the 27th, finally. And then, I'm not sure what else is going on.

If all goes well with the $$, I will be working on my MBA with strayer.

Now, if I could only get a well paying job while I"m working on this. I still want to be a teacher very bad, but I think my life is steering me into another direction.

Take Care - Karen your doing awsome.

Jennifer

Have you all seen this pic of Dianne?!!!! Doesn't she look FAB?!!!! This is her with Eileen (NJChick) taken when Dianne went to NJ. Are you home yet, Dianne?

Wavy...looking for your date soon!

Jen, you go girl, on your MBA! And, you are already a teacher, you are a Mom! But I know what you mean about life steering you in another direction. And I hope your back feels better soon. Not sure exactly what's been going on, but I hope all is well.

Everyone come to lunch next month! 3rd Sat at Ruby Tuesdays? Look for a thread from our fearless group leader, Kim. I had a nice time this past Sat! Staci was there...the one who NEVER posts? She's cool! Anyway, it was fun and we missed you all who weren't there! Plus, we didn't get a pic...no camera. Oh well, we still looked good! LOL

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
