Roja 0 Posted May 20, 2010 Hi Everyone... I was sleeved on 12th April... its been 5.5 weeks out.. I have joined a gym y'day.. 2day will be my first day at the gym... But, I'm in a fix... Should I tell the instructor that I have undergone a weight loss surgery or not?? Did anyone tell their personal trainers abt this? Personally speaking, I dread their reaction... What did u all start with at the gym?? Should I be careful with anything or is it that i can do anything and everything... Looking forward to ur great help... Love, Roja... deedee 5 Posted May 20, 2010 I wouldn't think you have to tell the instructor (is this a trainer or class instructor?) what type of surgery, but I'd probably want to mention that I had abdominal surgery 6 weeks ago. I wish you luck on your new program...good luck with it!
Jachut 487 Posted May 20, 2010 I agree. At only 5.5 weeks out, you're not back to full strength yet and may need to avoid anything that really increases intra-abdominal pressure - such as very heavy lifting or stomach work. But you dont need to tell them what it was you had done. If you were much further out I wouldnt think there was any need to divulge the info. I've certainly never told my trainer that runs the bootcamp I go to that I have a band.
ouroborous 519 Posted May 20, 2010 I second (third) this. Tell them that you've had abdominal surgery and shouldn't really be doing hard core work for a month or so. You don't have to go into details if you don't want to (although frankly I'm telling everyone since I don't have any problem with people knowing).
