Devo 0 Posted May 20, 2010 I was sleeved on April 27, 2010. I knew it was going to be painful but wasn't prepared as to how painful it actually was. It's been 3 weeks now since surgery, I feel so much better. I want to loose about 40-50 lbs and have lost 17 so far but it is not coming off now like it was in the beginning. I was loosing a pound a day! Old clothes are fitting again and my blood sugar is great. Prior to surgery, I was averaging in the low 200's and since it has dropped from the 140's - 150's to as low as between 105 -110. I am simply estatic with this! My surgeon was Dr. Nick Nicholson, an excellent doctor and I can't thank him enough for this new lease on life. I want to figure out how to post the weight tracker I see everyone has but so far haven't found the instructions for this...
pnw218 14 Posted May 20, 2010 Congrats on your surgery and weight loss so far! For us who are classified as lightweights, the rate of loss definitely is slower than those with more to lose. I have had a couple of very slow weeks, but have overall lost about 2 pounds per week. My primary dr is very happy with that and truly, I am too. My skin is keeping up with the weight loss and seems to be shrinking without any hanging issues. And awesome about your blood sugar! My other issues are sleep apnea, depression and bulging disks in my back. I am hoping (and already seeing) some improvements already! Good luck! Here is a link for the ticker I am using. SParkle 4 Posted May 20, 2010 Hiya Congrats on your surgery and the weight loss - I have 3 weeks to wait, and really wish I could fast forward them now. Keep up the good work - sounds like you might be slowing down a little but I know the lower BMI/less weight to loose peeps loose a bit slower anyway... but slow is good too..... so good luck - keep us informed. Maddie 9 Posted May 20, 2010 Gratz. I'm so glad you are doing well and losing weight. From what I have read, it's common for the weight lose to slow down around 3 weeks. Hang in there, if you are following the guidelines you will lose. Good luck.
Devo 0 Posted May 20, 2010 Thank you so much for all the words of encouragement and responses to my first post. This is a wonderful place to be. I also have high blood pressure and high cholestoral (sp?) and felt this was the only answer to my health issues. I am so thankful! I am on my way to being hopefully healthier than I have ever been. Even thou I am a "light weight", I have struggled with my weight all my life and have lost 100's of pounds over and over during my 46 years. Tried every diet, exercise, etc but always end up giving up and going back to overeating. Everyone is so up beat and positive, it has been extremely helpful to read all of your posts. It's so great to be on a journey where there are so many others that have been where you are and those who are ahead and can give you advice on what's coming up. Thanks, again!!!! Lucy 0 Posted May 21, 2010 Devo, I had surgery the same day as you and with the same doc. Forest Park. I was not prepared for the side pain. It still bugs me but not as bad. Oddly I too have lost about the same amount of weight. 16 pounds to date. Dr. Nick was awesome. I am in NM so I wont be doing an office visit until October. I guess I am a lightweight as well. I started the pre-op diet at 221. By the time I had surgery I was 209 and today I am 193. I have arthritis in my back and feet and hope this will help. Good luck with you journey. I am sure we will all reach our goals.
