pnw213 I'm finding it really hard to constantly remind myself that I do not have to try to eat an actual meal! I even forget at restaurants occasionally. I have no business ordering a bowl of Soup. I can't even finish a cup.

I hope I eventually feel comfortable enough to tell my friends that I got the sleeve procedure. I'm still feeling very private about it. It's probably because I'm still not totally convinced I can make it work long enough to get me to goal. I was not able to use the band to get there so that was one big failure I hated to own up to.

Yes, I started taking Biotin before band surgery and continued it. so I have been taking Biotin for about 3 years.

I don't know why I became amnemic. I know red meat is high in Iron, and I wasn't eating a lot of red meat. I have made sure to start eating more Iron rich foods and my levels will be tested again soon.

Well I hope you find out that you are within the normal ranges again! My dietician said that if I become anemic I will need to take an Iron supplement in addition to the Centrum chewable that already has some Iron in it.

Interesting about the fact that you've been taking Biotin for so long!

I am anxious to get my lab results back next friday. I've been eating spinach and avacados which are higher in Iron. I still

don't eat much red meat , but I have been taking iron for about 6 months now.

I've kind of lost track of this thread (and others) since I haven't been on in a week or so. I can't remember, did you comment on the thing about coffee, tea and wine causing some people to be unable to absorb Iron? If you already commented on that, forgive me. Been so busy!

I go for a follow up visit to the doc on Tues. I don't think he'll do any blood work or anything.

It's funny, if I don't take the Calcium, my tummy gets really sore and unhappy when I eat. If I do take the Calcium, I feel pretty normal. Have you noticed anything like that?

No, the thing I am trying to get used to is being off my PPI. It's

fine most of the time, but I do get heart burn in the evenings. And Water feels completely different going down now.

I don't drink coffee tea or wine.

For me my hair started to grow back in so my hair dresser notices the stubble at 7 months. I just took my vits, made sure I ate my Protein and had faith!

How much Biotin did you take daily? I take one pill. (333% of daily allowance)

Is that enough, or should I up the dose?

So far I'm just noticing more shedding than usual.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
