I would like to join the club, but I will wait for next month's challenge.

my highest weight I think was 206

weight on date of surgery was 205

my current wt and wt on day that I joined is 189

and my goal weight is 120

I am 5"2' , 30 yrs old and all my weight is from my stomach to my knees, lol. I am pear shapped and have HUGE hips that I can't wait to be gone for good! It puts me so out of proportion that if you ask me what size I am, I couldn't tell you. I am a wife of 14 yrs and a mom of 3. 2 boys 14 and 11 and a daughter almost 8. I weighed 98 lbs when I got pg for son #1 and gained 65 lbs as the stupid nurses and MD just shook their heads instead of giving me suggestions on how to avoid excessive wt gain. I lost some of the weight then gained a ton of it back. I did good with weight gain during my last 2 pregnancies but in between is where I gained all the weight. I love food and I have poor control. I have lost 17 lbs and I have 69 more to go. I can't wait to join the next challenge.

Thanks for all of the support that I have already gotten!

We are nearing the end of the challenge!! Have you all got your scorecards up to date?? I know I just had to update mine. I am going for the perfect scorecard. I think I might do it. If I can just get through the next couple of days. I have had to take splenda in my coffee a few times (I hate that stuff) just to calm the sweet cravings, but that was early on. The Soup diet some of us were doing did a lot for my numbers. And I am still losing. Weeee!

with my base metabolic rate, and my workouts and lifestyle (according to fit day) I am burning approx 4500 cals a day. With a diet ranging between 500 and 1000 cals a day intake, it is no wonder I am losing so fast! Did I mention I love fit day? hehehe. Good luck all!! This club makes it work! We are an awesome group, and I love how much weight we are losing together. I stare at our totals and group losers in awe just about everytime I am here!

Oh by the way, since the "guess funny's apron weight" challenge is now defunct I am going to donate a gift to the winner of next month's challenge. Something from Mexico. Kat is so nice to offer something up for winning this month, and I couldn't let her be the only one to be so generous! I think it is such a FAB idea. So next month is my turn. I will provide a special something from Mexico, and a little special something from Victoria's secret. I know....No size 2 thongs. LOL It is just one of my favorite scent collections from them. I can't get enough of this stuff, and DH just can't keep his hands off of me when I wear it. So of course I wear it ALL THE TIME!!

Good luck to all! Everyone has been working SO HARD this time around. I know the totals are going to be astounding!

Hi Everyone!

I'd love to join this group! I just weighed myself and much to my chagrin have gained weight since I last weighed. MAN, that is such a downer! I've started a low carb plan for the week to lose some of this Fluid and reduce my carb cravings and then I think I'll do the Soup diet that several are following, then switch back and forth as necessary to stay on track. I'd like to lose 17 lbs by my banding August 17th.

I currently weigh 267 and yes, this is my all time high. Seems like I've seen a lot of those lately! My ultimate goal weight is 150 although my surgery goal weight is 250. I'm 42 years old and am 5'8". I've been married 18 years and am an RN in a small town hospital with no children but two darling pups I call "the boys". I'm just going to a day shift position this week so I'm hoping that will help with my weight loss too. I snacked so much at night to stay awake that I should cut my calories substantially just by being on a regular day schedule again! We work 3, 12 hour shifts so on those days I can guarantee I won't be working out unless I get a pedometer. Then I can calculate my steps for the day and include those in my workout totals....?!

My reasons for wanting to be banded are few. Primarily I'm concerned about my health. Right now it's not too bad but both my parents had diabetes and all three of my brothers have it as well. I'm showing signs of insulin resistance which is a precursor to diabetes so I feel very strongly that now is the time to take action! My second reason for wanting the band is that I feel like I'm missing out on so much life. I love to swim, play tennis and be physically active but just find it too difficult or in the case of donning a swim suit, too humiliating to participate.

So, hooray for the band and hooray for this wonderful site full of information and support! I'm very eager for my band placement and look forward to the positive life changes in store for all of us!

Welcome to all the new comers!!!

The GFG club is off the chain, as the young people would say!:heh:

It's been very encouraging reading everyone's post despite the fact that I can't participate as I would like. It's always good to see everyone so positive even when we don't lose.

Anyway, I have class all day tomorrow so I though I better get my stats in this evening.

C=195, (-88lbs total; -3lbs this week):clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Time to go and Celebrate with a piece of cheesecake (yummy:hungry: )

Here's my Current photo. I will post an updated one at the end of the challenge. My pictures are grainy because they are cam pictures. I won't let hubby take my pictures with the digital camera b/c I'm shy when it comes to him, (don't ask b/c I have no idea why) ... but once I get 40 more pounds down then i'll let him take nice crisp pictures with my expensive camera :)

Hi NanyM,

LOL. I workout like an animal. I eat pretty much everything except for sugar, floury things. I drink lots of Water, watch my sodium intake. I eat Protein Bars too. I have an exercise thread somewhere around here called "Exercise Today" and you can see what all I do there. People say that I am the exception to the rule but I don't think that's true. If you workout/cardio exercise that's 65% above your resting heart rate, 5 days per week, you will surely get there as fast as I.

I'm not dieting. DIET, again is a 4 letter word.

I exercise everyday, taking 1 day off every other week. 1.5 - 3 hours per day. Alternating upper body and lower body. I bike ride through my town. I run 14 miles per week, I arc track 6 miles per week. I do the elliptical 5 miles per week that. That is roughly 25 miles per week.

No matter what else is on my agenda, I GET MY CARDIO IN! Cardio is the most important part of my day besides kisses from my kids, and chats with Tricia :)

I drink nothing but water and 2% milk with my shakes and with meals, only water. I do not drink juice, sodas or anything artificial.

I stay away from Pasta, rice, potatoes.

I run to meat, fish and poultry.

I devour spinich leaves for my salads.

I wash my exercise clothes what seems to be everyday, weird cuz I have 4 workout outfits.

I prepare all of my meals and if I go out to eat, I order fish, always fish and veggies and do not eat the breads or nachos they serve.

I have happily eaten ice cream, kettle corn :success1:

That's about it.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
