Gone for Good Club - June 2006

Not sure if you know this and plus this sample is not grilled burger but look at this:

Big Mac

530 calories, 28 g fat (10 saturated), 1,010 mg sodium

That's alot of sodium in 2 small patties (they are kinda small if I can remember correctly) but there are 2 in this burger.

Only other explanation is, Water. 1 Gallon of water = 8lbs. Lot's of sodium will cause water retention. You could very well be all water and can lose water weight very easily. Water weight can also be gained very easily too. Just watch your sodium. Also watch your carbs, if they are not complex carbs, watch it even closer.

Soups are killers with regards to crazy amounts of sodium. It's best to make your own soups so that you can monitor the amount of sodium/salt you put into it. I was on a strict liquid diet, immediately post op and there was a point where I plateaued. I couldn't figure out how I couldn't lose weight for 1 whole week on liquids. The answer, I was making Ramen Soup and drinking only the broth and come to find out, I was taking in over 1,820 mg of sodium in 1 package of soup. I stopped having the soup and started losing again.

Telly - I don't know how many of these fast food places exist in Greece lol - but it is helpful to remember what is and isn't good for us in general....

Ok, so this morning I'm 3lbs down again so lets go with the Water theory...and see!

Telly...the sodium I can't account for but Greek tavernas arent exactly fast food places. They have these barbecues set up in summer and when you order they bring the meat fresh from fridge inside and make your food...fast it aint LOL. You sit watching the sea and smelling the fish and meat grilling and there's nothing much better. The burgers are from fresh ground meat and are nothing like a fast food patty...but like I said, I hadn't thought of sodium! Thanks for the info.

Yeah in the before thread I told Heathergurl that she looked like a superstar being snap shotted by the paparazzi. Look at how well her chin, neck and torso is defined. Your belly is almost flat.

Yes, my favorite feature are your eyes, you have smokey eyes. Hotness!

I know!! It seems so quiet aroung here. Does anyone know when P'Nut gets back? I thought she was only going to be gone a week. Between Telly being quiet and P'Nut being gone it is unbearbaly quiet.

Great news about your outfit Funny. Glad you are feeling better.

I had my first panic attack this morning in 10 years. It was awful. My anxiety has been high for the last three weeks but for the last week I wake upa nd cannot breathe very well. I can tell it is stress and it is AWFUL. I bought a book and tried to follow the advice...walked the last two mornings, listened to a hypno tape and relaxing music. Didn't work because this a.m. I had a full blown panic attacka dn have since barely been able to catch my breath. I have to wait until 4:30 to get in with the doctor. Anyways...just wanted to share.

Hope your weeks are going well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
