If it was just slime/golf ball, no. If it's a full-blown PB, just liquids. I don't eat anything until the next day.

Same here..

sleepyjean, it's recommended to do this so that your stomach can calm down, and if it's swollen or inflamed from the PB, the swelling will go down.

That said, I don't really do it. I've had very few really bad PB's, where I did liquids, but usually not. Of course, if I go back and try to eat something and there's still a problem (ie; I PB'd because I ate too fast/didn't chew enough, not because I ate something that just wouldn't work), I'll switch to liquids for at least that meal.

Early on, I didn't wait, no. But I lived and learned, and now if I WERE to PB, I'd absolutely stick to liquids for at LEAST 24 hours. I've had the vicious cycle where inflammation comes on the heels of a bad PB episode, and it's WAY worse than avoiding it in the first place.

ummmm what she said! in the beginning i would go back to solids. immiediatly sometimes finishing my meals.

now i dont chance it AT ALL. i have had my band almost 3 years though. everytime i think i 'know' something the darn things (band) proves me wrong again!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
