Digital o Analog scale???

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I weight myself every Wednesday, but I think the scale I have is not working right :thumbup1: because I step on it get a reading, step down and then I weight again to confirm the weight and it gives me a total different reading in difference between 5 to 10 pounds, how do you guys find and accurate weight? do you have an scale to recommend? Thanks.

I have a digital scale, and I keep it in my kitchen tucked up underneath my bar. I have read that keeping a digital scale in the bathroom can cause issues because of all the moisture that tends to build up in the bathroom from showering etc.

I bought my digital at Wal-Mart for like $30 bucks and it matches my surgeon's scale exactly. My PCP scale weighs me 1-3lbs heavier than my home and surgeon's scale.

I bought a digital at costco and I love it. I notice it doesn't change every time you step on it. And it is a good 6 lbs heavier than my analog scale.

Actually at first I used my analog scale and then I had to totally redo my ticker to adjust for using the digital scale.

Best wishes to you - mine was like 24.99 at costco and is beautiful. When my friend had her bypass surgery I bought her one and called it flowers and brought it to the hospital. She loves hers too.......

I got a great digital scale on line...I needed one designed to weigh people over 350 pounds...love it. Tanaka brand from Japan...also weighs in kilos...you choose...and it remmebers what I weighed last week when I weighed in. The reading shows both. Very cool.

Posture and foot placement are surprisingly important with these scales, unfortunately. Try to make sure you always stand up straight (and you're not leaning to either side or forward/back), and try to always place your feet in about the same location on the scale.< /p>

i have the regular kind of scale and i haven't had any problems, the one i have problems with is the one they have at the gym, sometimes it's not well balanced and there's a variation with my weight. i think i will have to get a new digital scale, i'll be sure to check out the one at costco. thanks

I have a digital I got a Wal-Mart for around $30, I think. It gives me different readings, but usually they are very close to each other. I noticed one time I had my arm up resting on the window and it read about 2 pounds less than what I really weighed, so I have to make sure I'm standing completely still and my feet are centered on the scale. My husband has an old analog scale and it is about a pound different than the digital. I prefer to see that number come up.

I have a digital scale and it pretty much reads the same as my Dr. expensive scale.< /p>

The instructions for it says that you must calibrate it if you move it.

To calibrate mine you must step on the scale, and then quickly step off. It will read 0. You then wait for it to turn off, and then step on it again.

Mine was doing the same sort of thing until I read the manual and figured out how to calibrate it. It also states to use it on a hard surface only, so I use it on the hardwood floor.

I pretty much do the calibration every time I weight as I don't know if someone has moved it or not.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
