About how much loss equals a pant size?

Recommended Posts

I know it varies but I am curious about it, I am 5'7" and I am trying to approximate how much weight I need to lose to get to a certain size. I know its not the same for everybody, thanks in advance!

I am 5'7'' and I have found that I go down a size at around 15 lbs. Now... that may change. If I weighed 140 and lost 15lbs it might be more than a size. Its the 15lbs from 200 to 185 and then 185 to 170. Its probably pretty consistant.... I've never gotten below 170 so hopefully we'll see.

good luck

When I say a pant size I am meaning 16 or 14 or 12..... I don't count the inbetweens. So at 200 I was an 16 at 185 a 14 and at 170 a 12 (kinda tight but I could do it)

About what size were you wearing at 170? Thanks!

I'm at 178 right now and in a loose 14 but a 12 is a little obscene.

REALLY?? WHOO HOO!!! That means I may get there with about 70lbs lost. I was thinking 100. The thought of trying to lose 70lbs terrifies me but its sounds better than 100

I would have expected my numbers to be a little different since I am 3 inches shorter than you two, but I was wearing a 14 very comfortably at about 180ish also. I feel like my weight is pretty evenly distributed throughout my body - might be different if I was more pear shaped??

I am now 155 and in 10's easily.

The thought of being back in 14's comfortably makes me smile!

I wear a size 14 comfortably now and I am only 5'2" and 183. So with you being 5'7" there is a good chance you may fit into a size 14 before 70lbs lost. How exciting?! I bet a lot of it depends how you carry your weight as well. I tend to be very pear shaped. Small through the waist and big in the hips. Good luck to you. I am sure you will be there before you know it. Seems you you have a least a good estimate now 170-185ish.

I have always been a hourglass shape. Even at my heaviest I still have a much smaller waist and a bubble booty:( not is a good way, I would love to be a size 10 again but I want to be realistic in my goal setting ya know?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
