JillianMarie 0 Posted May 14, 2010 I think the biggest difference is what size of sleeve the patient gets. I have read that the size of the bougie used is anywhere from a 28 to a 60. That's a huge difference. That can be the difference between being able to eat a few bites at a time or nearly a whole meal. So i wouldn't say it's the quality of the Doctor, just how much stomach he removes. Because i have less weight to lose i will need more stomach removed, because it takes a lot more for me to lose weight.
redroses47 1 Posted May 16, 2010 My tastes in food changed quite a bit and rapidly, too. My pre-op comfort food was anything cereal/grain/bread-based but now, it's not even on the radar. I am totally fine with any Protein food, vegetables and fruits. Grains (meaning oatmeal, flax, etc.) are last but I do try to have something from each of these groups every day. Not easy - there is little room. So to answer the question, I really don't eat more than 1/2c - max 2/3c - at a time. I can feel the fullness right away and all systems say STOP. Good luck. texjul 0 Posted May 19, 2010 I am about 3 months out and I have lost about 30 pounds from 230 to 200. I lost about 24 in the first 6 weeks and about 6 in the second 6 weeks. I usually do an powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shake (1 cup fat free milk w/powder) or 2 eggs for Breakfast. I am trying to go to one egg and one egg white instead of two eggs.< /p> I can eat about the equivalent of 1 cup of food for my other two meals. I eat on average 80% to 95% meat per meal. Sometimes, I have another Protein Shake in the afternoon or a yogurt, popsicle or ice-cream after dinner. Sometimes I have wine as well...mea culpa.... Almost without exception, I am hungry again in about an hour after I eat. No matter how much I drink, I still stay hungry. I think drinking can actually make me more hungry. I am going to talk to my doctor about acid in my stomach at my 3 month appointment to see if it is responsible for my hunger. Good luck!!!!!
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted May 19, 2010 Went out to dinner last night. I had most of my salad. Lettuce chews down to nothing so I can eat a lot of salad. I ate all my veggies and about 2/3 of my teriaki (sp?) steak.
