I am at 7 weeks post op and i am wondering if I am eating too soon. I am able to eat things but in very small portions. Example, i can eat Soup, Cereal, ground beef, turkey, fish, apple, strawberries, cooked vegies. It just seems like i read alot about people still in mushy stage. Like i said i only eat a very little bit. I am having a hard time getting in my liquids though and I am eating way tooo fast. This has problem forever. I really need help working on this.

Any thoughts? just wonder is i am normal? thanks:001_tt2:

Those things listed were listed on my pureed/mushy/soft solid stage with the exception of the fruit. So, I wouldn't say that it's completely off. I had to stick ground beef and chicken in my mini food processor, but everything else I could eat the same time frame as you.

Eating slow takes time to kind of relearn, but hang in there it sounds like you're doing very well.

I'm at 6 weeks, and my MD's guidelines allow me to eat all the foods that you mentioned except the fruit. I can eat fruit, but it is supposed to be soft or cooked with no skins and no seeds. So cooked apples or applesauce. But no strawberries. I was also told to stay away from any fibrous/stringy vegetables like celery or string Beans. I've stayed away from beef and pork, just because I know that some say it's harder to digest and should be introduced a little later. I only eat meats that are ground, or shaved deli meats.

I am also 7 weeks out and am eating lots of the same foods as you. My doctor told me to resume regular food without any restrictions at 1 month (though of course I am doing low carb). I eat beef, chicken, turkey, sausage, nuts, occasional piece of toasted low cal bread, Jerky ect. I haven't had raw veggies yet -I waiting until 3 months since that seems what a lot of physicians recommend and it makes sense to me. I haven't had cooked veggies since I hate them. Some fruit also but can have lots of carbs. I haven't had any problems with foaming, being stuck, vomitting or anything. I figure that I have just been lucky. So it sounds as if we are eating a lot of the same things at the same point post-op. I say we are normal. My only question is I have no problem getting in all my calories and could easily eat up to or over 1000 cal/day. I try to stay around 800 but I wonder if anyone else can eat that many calories so early out.

I'm only 3 weeks out so I can't tell you what my 7 week experience is... only that my doc said I can pretty much do whatever I want after 6 weeks.

I am averaging around 800-900 calories a day, but I'm trying to follow the nut guidelines and I'm eating typical "diet foods": lean Protein, limited fat and restricted carbs. I'm also limiting my snacking. If I were eating a higher fat diet, higher carb diet, I could easily double my caloric intake. At this mushie stage, I feel confident that cheesecake would go down nice and easy. A few bites in the morning...a few bites at lunch...a tiny taste at dinner....and BINGO...a slice has vanished...add in a couple handfuls of chips with dip...and my caloric intake would be doubled in a flash.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
