What is up with this?

What is up with this? I know that right now my restriction is ok and I guess at a good level because I can have a meal and not make it through all the way or something gets stuck and I quit eating...the normal business. But today for some reason I couldn't get all of my lunch down which was a small piece of meatloaf and a small helping of mashed potatos and then I got the munchies and I have had about 4 of those popcorn cakes...:) . Is it because of the texture of the foods that makes the difference in how easy it goes down? Just curious. Does anyone else experience this? AND I don't really feel full...:phanvan But I know that I don't need a fill yet.

I just got a fill last week.I have been experiencing that same thing this week.Sometimes I can only eat like 2 bites and be full, but later in the day I am famished and seems like no restriction.Guess it's true the band be a fickle tool for us to use.

I think texture of food has alot to do with it. I find I can eat chips and popcorn like there's no tomorrow! Somehow everything else is limited but certainly not crunchy junk foods. On the other hand, I can also eat unlimited amounts of salad, which I should focus on instead of chips, which are my downfall...

Texture is a large part of it. And I know there are a bunch of people who have issues with ground beef too, so the meatloaf may have been part of it..

Kathy, Sunta, OMG me too!!! I've been at the computer 45 min. trying to find a thread to discuss this very thing. It's the hardest challenge I've had with the band, I have to eat something so I fall back on chips and crackers...My weight loss is slow and it's my own fault. The problem becomes, we have to eat at least 1000 cal. daily which is hard when you can't get much food down so I supplement with junk and go way over 1000 cal.

Having complained about band challenges I need to say the band is the best thing ever! I just wish I'd had it yrs ago.

Me too! only my down fall is ice cream and milk chocolate, I can't eat salad, but I can eat hamburger. It is nice to know I am not alone.

I agree the band is fickle, but the best thing I have ever had!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
