sbrown6283 0 Posted May 10, 2010 I know that they remove like 85% of your stomach, but does anyone know how much the stomach that they take out weighs?
pnw218 14 Posted May 11, 2010 My guess is not much. I saw the amount removed and it looked like less than a handful. Are you pre or post-op?
tiaras 0 Posted May 11, 2010 I asked this and they said it's a matter of grams. I was trying to add up the weight of all the bits I've had removed (a lot of my stomach; my appendix; my womb and ovaries) - keep thinking I should subtract it from my optimum weight. Nah, won't bother! xx
MINI-Me 196 Posted May 11, 2010 I don't know the weight, but my surgeon said it was like going from the size of a football to the size of a small/medium banana.< /span>
Stacy160 201 Posted May 11, 2010 I'm chatting with my hubby on Facebook right now, and I just asked him what the length and width of my removed stomach were (the surgeon showed it to him right afterward). He's estimating it was about 9" x 5", but it was also still inflated from leak testing.
Jane_J 117 Posted May 11, 2010 I know that they remove like 85% of your stomach, but does anyone know how much the stomach that they take out weighs? I was told by Dr Cierny that he had removed 60% of my stomach, but I don't know if that was by weight or volume. However it was sufficient to work and allow me to live normally now, I can eat maybe 5oz of steak, or a chicken breast and a spoonful of veg with that in one sitting. I am careful to always eat Protein 1st now.
