ouroborous 519 Posted May 9, 2010 So far today was shaping up to be pretty good... I've already met my hydration goal and then some (~80 oz so far). I've taken half of my Vitamins, and about half my Protein. I managed to get some real "food" in me (a 1/2 cup serving of Greek yogurt). I was doing pretty well (had taken a couple of walks, too). I've noticed that my stomach has been churning -- it feels like hunger. And then I was rearranging my sleeping space, moving things around -- not heavy stuff, just my CPAP and a few things that are similar weight, 8-10 pounds -- and I started to feel sort of breathless and woozy and a little sick to my stomach. My girlfriend seems to think that maybe I've finally burned through all of my blood sugar reserves, and my body is sort of "running on empty." Anyone else have a theory? I'm drinking a cup of watered-down apple juice now to attempt to resupply myself with blood sugar. I had felt a little flushed, but that seems to be passing. Now I just feel a little wobbly. deletedsally 8 Posted May 9, 2010 (edited) About how many calories have you had? Are you taking any medications for high BP? I'm wondering if your blood sugar was low or if your blood pressure dropped... Edited May 9, 2010 by katt
lmmore 0 Posted May 9, 2010 sounds to me like your blood pressure dropped. That happens to me. Are you on any BP meds?
Tiffykins 673 Posted May 9, 2010 Sounds like what I experience when I am sitting or laying and get up too quickly. It even happens when I am bending over at the waist to get stuff from the bottom shelf in the pantry. I've officially been diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension because my BP is now pretty low. I hope it resolves and you feel better. Great job on staying hydrated ! ! !
Kelly G. 2 Posted May 9, 2010 When I was 9 days post op, I took my blood pressure meds (2) and shortly after that, I felt a lot like what you are describing. I took my bp and it was 99/66. Later that day it started coming back up and I felt better. I went to see my PCP and he took me off of both meds. It is amazing that it happened leterally overnight. Do you have a bp monitor? ouroborous 519 Posted May 9, 2010 Well my BP is very dynamic -- it varies from borderline high to borderline low, and I don't know what triggers it. Right after surgery it was incredibly high -- 160/90 or something, but then when I went back for fluids the next day it was 130/70 or so. It could have been blood pressure. Could also have been anxiety. I took a half a Xanax and it "went away."
imagine.dream.inspire 0 Posted May 10, 2010 I have high bp and am on medication. The times that I have felt what you described have been times when my bp has dropped. Do you have a home monitor? Try to check it when you begin to have those symptoms.
KZol 0 Posted May 10, 2010 My BP bounces around, too. If I'm nervous in the doc's office it will come out high, but stick me with a needle and it plummets and I faint or vomit or both. So your unstable blood pressure could be causing a lot of your discomfort. Hope you feel better soon.
