For a little history, I found a doc that I thought I wanted to do my sleeve.

I even have a surgery date set for 5/27.

But when I talked to the doc 2 weeks ago, he says he uses a 48fr and

sews to the left of that. I tried not to let the HUGE size bother me,

but really has been.

I am going to start my search for another surgeon on Monday.

I dont want to go through all this work have this huge sleeve and

then have trouble losing the weight and keeping it off.

Just not worth it. Its scary for me a little to give up something sure-thing

and go back to the beginning. But, I really feel its best for me...

Lisa, you are doing the best thing for your health. I agree that if you are not comfortable with an aspect of the surgeon's program then you shouldn't let him cut on you. I know that it is scary to research, and feel confident about a surgeon only find out that something is just "not right". I went through a lot of surgeons for my revision. I researched Alabama, Florida and Georgia surgeons and was able to get my revision here in Florida.

Best wishes, and do what makes you comfortable.

Thanks Tiffykins, the support on this board is spectacular and I might not have

had the courage to make this change without it.

I agree that a 48 is pretty big. You definitely want to have confidence in your surgeon. If you're in an area where you have your choice of surgeons, keep searching until you find the one that makes you the most comfortable. You can message anyone on here for information about their surgeon.

Most doc's wont go much smaller for risk of Stricture. My doc metioned that he uses a 30 but does not go real tight against it for staple line integrity.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
