I was until today! My girls had recital pictures all day so I am beat! But they are in bed and I am chillin' now! It was really hard today getting in enough Fluid, felt like I was playing catch up this evening. Overall, I feel great. I do have a little pain, Dr. A did one of my incisions in my belly button which is a great idea, it will be hidden but I feel a little pull when I stretch so worried about that.

Have not gotten on the scale and will not until the 24th so I can't say on that front how I am doing but I know it is crystal light, sf popsicles, broth, Protein drinks and sf Jello going in, that is it, oh and V8 veggie juice so can't imagine that I will not lose any weight by then!

Thank you so much for checking!

The staff you meet with upon arrival speak fluent english. The nurses, however, don't. When you arrive they give a sheet of paper with common phrases in spanish that a nurse would ask you and it tells you how you can answer so that is helpful. If you can't say it you can point to it and they can read it.

I printed sheets with common and medical English/Spanish phrases before I went down thinking it might be a good idea, but never had to use them. Nice to have on hand tho!

Did you ever find out if the spinal had anything to do with the back pain?? My "too full" pain has always been in the front, so was just curious.

Hope your recovery is going well!

Good question Janet! I know that I have back pain when I am on my feet alot so it might just be exagerrated by the fact that I am so tired. I will ask though, thanks for pointing that out. Also, I actually had an epidural, they left it in until Wednesday, not sure why, I would like to know case the other patients did not have that!

Feeling under the weather this afternoon. Feel a sore throat coming on and getting weaker, I hope I have not come down with something. Our weather has been weird lately, in the 80s this past weekend and no in the low 50s and rainy.

Angie, make sure you're hydrating. Nothing else is as important, and getting dehydrated will land you in the ER.

After that, make sure you're getting your Vitamins (if your doc has you taking some, if not, why the heck not?!), and finally, Protein.

If you're doing okay on those fronts, just take time and rest. A little post-op fever and ick is pretty normal. Just keep track of your temperature and sip, sip, sip.

OT: the weather here has been much the same; last week was like early summer, with temps in the mid-high 70's (which is, for Seattle, amazing in May!) and now we're back down to 50's and 60's and rainy. Weird!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
