So I have this very young tactless friend who we all adore, but who without realizing it says the MOST horrible things. He hadn't seen me in about a week and I was wearing a short sleeve shirt and he hugged me then grabbed my arm smiling and said, "Anna your arms are so much different, I mean seriously look your skin is like elephant skin now!" Holy S*** I am only a month post op. I already had old lady flabby stretch mark arms, but as I lose more I fear my vanity may make me crazy!!!!

Wow! Your surgery was just the day before mine. Is all your weight loss post op or does that include the preop stuff too? Have you experienced any slow downs the last couple weeks?

It includes pre-op, my surgeon only has a 2 day liquid before but I did 8 days. I experienced a one week stall at 2 1/2 weeks that made me want to freak out but I stayed calm because of everything I had read on here. My sister who has always been thin actually said "Won't you be so embarrassed if you don't lose weight?" I didn't even have the words to respond to that, well I could think of two words! I actually gained exactly 10 lbs while I was in the hospital for 30 hours. That diet gave me diarreah and they loaded me down with I'Vs because I was dehydrated, came out 10 lbs heavier. I am so, so glad I got sleeved, I can tell from your posts you are loving it too. You have done fabulously well!

Yup, I really am. I am trying really hard to start incorporating some serious exercise. For now I just really want to get down to 50 lbs and we are both super close! I bet we could be there in the next two weeks. How amazing is that?!?!?!?

Start working those arms out!

I guess, for me, my skin goes through good periods and bad periods. OK, not good, but not god awful. When I lost quickly they would look bad. Then after a stall they would be a bit better.

And then, working them out makes a world of difference. I think its kind of like the hanger the skin hangs on...still I wont be hailing a taxi in a sleeveless shirt, but I can wear sleeveless shirts without feeling too self conscious.

Your friend sounds just adorable... :l I'd tell him that if he makes any more comments, you'll slap him with your loose "elephant skin," and then stomp on him!

hahaha, you should see my loose skin, i love to lift it up then drop it! Up, makes me look major skinny, drop it, I'm back to me! too bad duck tape isn't the cure all with this, but i'm really afraid to have another surgery. . doctors warned me against it for now. . . so for now i just "tuck" it in and workout! hehehe. . .

My dear mother, who has a knack for saying these things stared at me the other day and said "Good GOD, are you going BALD??????" RIght at the dinner table with family. I turned 5 shades of red I'm sure.

I had been losing some hair...hoping no one noticed you know....hadn't really prepared anyone for this reality b/c I was hoping it would not be a problem.

But I'm not bald anyway, so why couldn't she think of a nicer thing to say. But I tell you I have lost a lot of hair in the last month. I am thankful it is not on the tip top but all over. It seems to be slowing down, or I am perhaps thinking wishfully. But it is not getting worse.

I noticed today my pony tail is really little.

I wasn't mad...but I could've done without that comment.

My skin on my arms is the worst place of anywhere. I have been lifting weights but the saggy skin covers up the muscles underneath. When I am lifting the weight, the muscle shows but just standing, it's hanging skin. I hate it. I went shopping to try to find some tops with sleeves, and all the short sleeved tops are almost like sleeveless cause they are sooo short.!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
