Hi All!!!

So I've been a lurker for a while, and now I just wanted to post my experience thus far in my WLS journey.

Last Thursday, 4-22 I filled out some online forms for info about 3 different surgeons---two about 1 1/2 hours away from my hometown and one for Dr. Aceves in MX. And guess whose office responded almost immediately? Yup. Lucy sent me an e-mail with pricing info (literally 1/2 the cost of U.S. sleeve even with plane tickets) just 1 hr later. I have yet to hear from anyone else. It doesn't matter now, though. About 7:30 that evening i phoned Dr. Aceves' office expecting to get a voice message with office hours so that i could call back in the morning (it was 5:30 in MX) Well Lucy picked up and much to my surprise i was able to schedule my appt for 11th May!!! After reading all the positive info on this site and others about Dr. Aceves, I am completely confident about my decision to travel out of the states for the sleeve.

Now my only problem is this extreme case of IMPATIENCE, but this too shall pass, right? I feel like a prisoner waiting to get out of jail and start a new, better life. I'm almost dizzy with excitement and I'm completely enamored with the staff at Dr. Aceves' office, and i haven't met any of them. I can't imagine how i will feel after i actually go through my sleeve experience.

Kay! Hello and Welcome! I will be sleeved on May 10th by Dr. Aceves! I have also met another lady here recently who will also be sleeved on the 11th! So you will not be alone! If you have any questions, this is the place to be for sure! I understand the nerves and impatience, I have two different calendars that I am marking off each day for the countdown!

If you would like, send me a private message and we can exchange contact info. Are you bringing anyone with you? My Mom is traveling with me...

Yay, another sleeve buddy!

Angie

Congrats on the quick date! I have been considering using Dr. Aceves too. I was looking into another doc in Mex but due to the unlimited amount of success stories at the hands of Dr. Aceves, he would be my first choice.

However, I dont think my family will be too keen on going to Mexico. Although I dont have any fears myself about going.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
