Mexicali and Dr. Aceves Tests Tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

You can try putting the crushed up pills into some sort of liquid like crystal lite. I started taking all my small pills at 2 weeks post op.

I'm glad you're home an on the road to recovery and weightloss!

I am glad it was easy for you an everything went well!

So glad to hear that your surgery went well. I had my surgery with doctor aceves not long ago. Welcome to the sleeve club.

Re: the spinal block

I was not under when they did it. They were doing both the IV setup and the spinal block at the same time. I remember it very clearly. They inserted the needle twice and it hurt but I made myself strong. LOL. After that I do not remember anything until I woke up right after surgery. Didn't have any fog and was fully awake and alert. The spinal block is wonderful. It really helped with post-op pain. Dr. Aceves mentioned that it is offered on a case-by-case basis and not everyone gets it. Its then up to you to decide if you want them to administer the SB or opt out.

I don't remember anything about the spinal block. I must have been out in lala land already. I barely remember anything about the OR. I had a spinal block prior to my c-section 7 years ago and it didn't take, so I end up going under general and had loads of problems coming out. Needless to say, I had some anxiety about going under with Garcia. He was really professional and calming about it. When I told him my pregnancy spinal block didn't take, he very confidently said 'well, we'll do it right." Then we laughed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
