Mexicali and Dr. Aceves Tests Tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

We made it to San Diego and did a little shopping today. Actually found some Protein bullets and some Isopure at a Nutrition store. Old Town is really nice. We ate at the Rockin' Baha. The only place to eat when you are on a protein diet. A bucket of shrimp, lobster, chicken and steak! lol Each day closer I get a little more nervous. I find myself saying "What the heck are you doin' girl?" Then I remind myself it's for my own good and I calm down. Still very nervous about the whole anesthetic recovery room deal. I am more worried about that than complications. Glad to have hubby here with me. More later. Going to get to bed for the big day of tests tomorrow.

Good luck to you!! Waking up after surgery is often not the most pleasant part, however you also won't remember much of it either because of the after effects of the anesthesia.

Love your bucket of protein! Sounds like somewhere I should go now! Would probably feed me for a week! : )

Here in Mexicali! Beautiful resort and very good last meal at the Italian Restaurant! Tests were all done very professionally and the hospital looks great! Very nice doctors and nurses as well. Off to take my ativan and have a last sip of Water and then it's lights out. Until tomorrow. Or maybe the next day. :)

You'll be just great. Remember I told you my discussion with Dr. Garcia about bringing me out okay? It was fine. In fact, I don't even remember coming out. I just remember waking up in my room. I was a bundle of nerves once I got there and everything was fine. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Thanks Tiff.Anna, mswendy, pnw, lapgyrl, and barb. I am just sitting in my room at the hospital waiting for surgery. I am not so nervous right now. Must be the afteraffects of the ativan. :001_smile: Had a wonderful sleep. Going to keep my watch on so I can call for my meds every four hours. ;) The doctors are wonderful and Lucy and Yolanda are sweethearts. The room is very comfortable. I already met a fellow sleever from Ontario. Getting kind of thirsty though hope they hurry with the iv. lol See you all on the other side of sleevedom! And by the way my pre op diet was good. 250 down to 239! Woohoo!

that was one of the hardest parts...waiting in my room, but once they take you in, it all goes fast and soon you'll be back in your room again--new and improved

Are you 2nd? I went first at 9:00, but only found out at 8:30. I was like...holy crap!!! It will all go super fast from this point on. They are really very efficient and methodic. You won't even believe how Fluid this will be. Good luck, hang tight and remember that anything you have questions on - ask. I just got back myself about 8 days ago so I'm about 11 days out.

Hang in there! Dr. Aceves is very professional and Dr. Campos is a super nice guy. He called me 'sweetie pie' once when I was miserable on day 2. It cracked me up because I'm 10 years old than him and feel like his mother...or, much older aunt. lol

I can't lie Wendy, I don't really remember anything after surgery day and had to go back and read my journal about right before it, and even most of the day after. Amnesia can be very nice.

I know - I want to ask my friend who came with me about some details. The Verset they give does act as an amnesia agent. The last thing I remember was the ladies wrapping my legs in that gauze.

I very vaguely remember the gauze and then I have this semi embarrasing memory and I really don't know who the recipient was, but as they were giving me my spinal block and I was leaning on someone, I think I gave them and uber bear hug! I hope I just am remembering it wrong????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
