am i full or just sore

Recommended Posts

How do you tell the difference between full and sore post op. I'm on Clear liquids and it hurts some when I drink. Am I full or just sore still. My body feels like it wants more sustinance.

Thanks

Stacey

I would say sore. I was about 3 weeks out before I ever consume any liquids, and never felt a full signal on clear or even full liquids. I just stuck with the prescribed 2oz every 15 minutes, and that helped me get in my fluids, and I didn't worry about carbs, and stuff that early out. Once I got to full liquids, and mushies I watched my carbs, but Clear Liquids, I consumed whatever I could tolerate that was allowed.

Hang in there, you'll feel better soon. I was able to take a Children's tylenol post-op when I didn't want to use the RX pain meds. I used it sparingly, but maybe you could ask your surgeon or someone with his staff if this would be an option for you.

Yea, its probably just sore. I should follow the 2oz rule instead of looking for signals this early on. All in all I'm doing pretty good. Just a little tender still. I cant wait to be thin

take care

I'm experiencing this too. My tummy feels full after 1 oz and i can't do it again for at least an hour or two. Today, I think I consumed about 16 oz of liquids total and I know I've got to get more in. I'm only 2 days post op and this is only my 1st day keeping aything down. Does it get easier? I celebrated eating a half of a popcycle today for Breakfast and the nurses thought I was nuts. I had IV fluids today but I was dischared and it won't be there to help anymore. I really feel full. Is there any help?

Oh yes it gets easier!!!! And when I ate a popsicle a few days post op my life was changed, Angels sang, fireworks, such magic! You really won't recognize signals yet. Measure and go super slow. I have an egg timer next to my bed for fluids and still over a month out have to set it for 15 minutes then drink. It really is worth it to go slow. I slimed on Water a few times and it is nasty! But I swear on everything holy this gets better. Ask anyone on here who was reading my posts a few weeks ago and I was not a happy camper. Tonight I went swimming and it was bliss to feel like I was in control of this body of mine. I have energy again, and I am a happy lady! Good luck to you!!!

Every day is exponentially easier than the last. Its rough at first, but you'll be fine :thumbup1:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
