christa94 0 Posted May 30, 2006 i am scheduled to have the lapband at the molding clinic at the end of june. they say they only use the inamed band. and they go ahead and fill it a little at the time of placement. has anyone else experienceed this? they also said doing this will have me on the liquid diet at first, then Soups, and it would be about 3 months before i could really be on solids. any thoughts on this? Marimaru 7 Posted May 31, 2006 Well, opinions on this will vary, and there are threads on that clinic on this site with people's opinions (see the thread titled "Complications" in the complications forum). They aren't really supposed to fill the band at the time of the surgery, to the best of my knowledge. Sometimes they'll put enough in to 'prime' it, ie; fill the tubing so your first fill has a little more effect, but not enough to actually tighten the band. Post op diets vary greatly by doctor, but for the most part, people are eating solid foods at 6 weeks post op. It sounds to me like maybe you are having a few doubts. You might consider looking into other clinics/hospitals, and finding a place that you might feel more comfortable. Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey performed my surgery at the San Jose hospital there. I highly recommend him.

melati 0 Posted May 31, 2006 I wouldn't use them. I've heard the horror stories.
missy4gordon 0 Posted May 31, 2006 I thought the Molding Clinic was over?? Who is the surgeon there now?
Carlene 12 Posted May 31, 2006 My doctor had me do 3 days Clear Liquids, one week full liquids, and one week of soft food. I think 3 months with no solid food would be awful!
