OMG I have a date...

Recommended Posts

MAY 4th, that is if hubby doesn't freak out that it only two weeks away. Good news it is ONLY two weeks away, bad news I have to start my 2 week pre-op diet. I have a raging headache and I can not think of anything but food. More good news doctor said I can have the single port surgery. Yeah, less insicions.

I have a feeling you will be seeing a lot of me around here, dealing with excitment and a little bit of panic.

thanks guys

Woot!!!!!!! Congrats on the date! It will be here before you know it! And the pre-op diet can be pretty crappy at times, but in a couple months you'll remember it as just a tiny little bump in your journey & it will be soooooo worth it! :) Happy dance!

Congrats Sassie and Goodlife!

It will be exciting for you! I am so glad I had it done!

Sorry about the pre-op diet tho. That would have been very hard!

Thanks for all the support, I knew I would get what I needed here. I think the thing that is SOOO hard is that I did get any LAST meals, you know. I when to my apointment fasting for some tests, they said they had a date 2 weeks out and that I would have to do 2 weeks pre-op diet since I am having a single port. I know this is just the beginning of dealing with food differently. I just wasn't quite ready yet.:sad0:

What kind of pre-op diet do you have? I know what you mean about not feeling ready! I didn't really do any "last meals" either. But give it a few months and you can have little portions of whatever you want! :sad0: You're gonna do great!

Raging headache is caused from the detoxification . . your body is so used to eating whatever, now you have stopped feeding it and it is rebelling, just like a teenager! Be strong, don't give in, be in control of your tummy don't let it control you . . . it's tough but you can do this. . it also prepares you for you post op diet. . . you'll do good. . . if your thinking about food, have stuff to drink instead. . . we're more than happy to see you around here, that is what we're here for. . . :sad0:

I'm using PrescriptFit. They sell it at my surgeon's office but you can get it online also.

They have chicken Soup flavor, chocolate, and vanilla.

I drink the lactose free chocolate..it tastes just like brownie batter to me..yummy.

I was out and bought some more today and forgot to tell them I wanted the lactose free and they gave me the regular. I came home opened it, made a shake, took a big ole sip and went EEEWWWWWW what the HELL is this nasty stuff? Looked at it and said ahh..who knew they would taste so different. Got back in my car went back over there and bought another tub of the lactose free.

The chicken Soup isn't bad...I add a little extra seasoning to it and a bit of bouillon.

However; I do not care for the vanilla...but they sell flavorings for it that you can buy and I'm going to have to check out the difference in taste between the regular and the lactose free on the vanilla.< /p>

I have to have a minimum of 8 scoops per day which is 4 shakes but I can have up to 20 scoops if I wanted it. I'm having trouble getting all 8 scoops in now. They're just really filling.

I've never been much of a Water drinker either...but adding the sugar free koolaid tropical punch or grape or the crystal light fruit punch to it makes it soo good. I can drink way more than I need to drink in a day now so that is good too.

Goodlife, thanks so much for the suggestion and information. I am goingto see if I can find that kids to try. After 24 hours or so of mine I am ready to try something else. I need to try and find the unflavored one to add to things after.

Thanks for the info, I think I'll try to buy online. Sounds like our tastebuds are very similar! Have a great day!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
