I'm wondering when you went back to work after your surgery. I'm sure it depends on the type of work. I work in a medical office and am at a desk most of the time. Right now I am scheduled to go back on day 5. Is this unreasonable?

I also encounter alot of patients throughout the day that have known me for quite awhile. How do I respond when they notice the initial rapid weight loss?

hello :sad0:

I went back to work on Monday, after having surgery the prior Thursday, and I was fine. Tired yes, but no pain or other issues. I also work at a desk most of the time however can get up and walk around anytime I needed to. I have always had fast recovery times tho; was on a cruise 3 weeks after a hysterectomy; back to work less than a week after lap gall bladder surgery.

I was able to adjust my hours - go in later, leave early. I could have worked all day if I had to, but I had the option so took it.

As far as what to tell people? Totally depends on you. I was going to be fairly cautious about telling and then decided to share it freely if the subject came up. My thoughts: I did not want to tell people that I lost the weight by Portion Control and exercise only. Mainly, I didn't want others to think I was any better than them - if they had tried and failed at dieting and exercise. I also think this is an amazing tool and I hope it is more recognized soon. There would be so many people who could benefit from it.

That all said ... there could be a person or two that I run into that I won't tell. I will just let them think I did it myself. Probably something along the lines of revenge from something they did to me earlier in life! LOL

Are you a coach? What do you coach? I have been coaching elementary and middle school volleyball for about 6 years. It is so amazing to see the older girls now on the high school team. Doesn't seem that long ago that they were afraid to even hit the ball : )

Thank you for saying that. I get SO frustrated at people who treat weight loss as a moral issue; showing people that weight loss surgery is (as you say) a great tool, and nothing to be ashamed of, is very important!

Everyone at my work knows that I'm scheduled for weight loss surgery on May 6th. My immediate team even knows what KIND of surgery. So far everyone has been from neutral to very supportive.

Thanks to both of you. I think I'll be alright. I too have had a couple of other surgeries and was fine with them, so I'm hoping this will be the same. My office is very small and I kind of had to tell them. They have been very supportive so its not bad yet. It's the patients that I don't know how to respond to. I think I'll just play it by ear and see what feels right.

Yes, I am a coach for girls basketball....and I love it. It is fun watching them progress and see the excitement they have when they can see improvement in themselves. I can't wait for the day when I can run around with them again. My surgery is in May so I am thinking by December I'll be able to play with them!

Thanks for your encouragement!

All of my employees know and they are all very supportive. The owner of the company is a wonderful man and he is very supportive also.

My surgery is next wednesday, and I'm hoping to be able to come back to work the following Monday at least for half days.

I can work from home some too if I need to.

I think 5 days is reasonable. I started back after that at 1/2 days for a week & did fairly well. But, was very tired when I got home. Do you have the option for shorter days that first week back?

I had a slow start and took one solid week off, and wished that when I did go back I would have done it on a part time basis, or atleast given myself that opportunity as a just in case.

Thanks for you thoughts. I might be able to work shorter days but it would only be maybe 2 hours shorter, but it sounds like even that would be helpful. I'll see what I can do about that.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
