KZol 0 Posted April 20, 2010 I live in a very small town and our stores don't carry, well.....much beyond the basics. I'm close enough to the Phoenix area that I can make periodic shopping runs, but I don't want to go every week. Has anybody tried to freeze their Greek yogurt, and if not, what's the shelf life? Tiffykins 673 Posted April 20, 2010 I've frozen it, and then ate it like ice cream. The longest I ever froze it was about a week. I just checked my containers in the fridge, and my checking account for my last grocery store run. I bought Oikos 16oz container, and 4 Chobani with strawberries on April 12, and the Oikos expires May6th, and the Chobani expires May 2nd. I go through the plain pretty quickly because I cook with and use it in place of sour cream. I also make a lot of dips out of it. The Chobani I eat a couple times a week. KZol 0 Posted April 20, 2010 Thanks Tiffy! I continue to be amazed at how devoted you are to all of us on this board. Checking last month's grocery receipts? You ROCK. Has anybody tried to thaw the Greek yogurt after freezing it? Some dairy products handle this fine, and some go to bits....I would really like to buy a month or two's supply at a time... Lee 19 Posted April 20, 2010 I often use the Plain Fage Greek Yogurt a week or more after the expiration date on the container. I figure it's already in a tart state and I think the cultures keep it good for a longer period. I always look for the container with the furthest out date. Yup, I'm that annoying person. :001_tongue:
Tiffykins 673 Posted April 20, 2010 Checking last month's grocery receipts? You ROCK. I just pulled up my online bank stuff, and checked for the last time I ran to Wal-Mart. LOL I haven't ever tried thawing it out.
