Sometimes I wonder if people that aren't from Canada honestly assume that Canada is a little town and we all know "Bob from Canada."

Not so much Americans...but far away other countries.

I had to add my two cents here, too. I have gotten that question MANY times since coming back to the states, "Hey, do you know Angie, she lives in Canada." At first, I'm shocked that they'd ask that, but guess what? I have known that person EVERY SINGLE TIME I get asked that question. It's a VERY strange coincidence. Shocks the heck out of me every time.

I lived in Canada for almost 2 years at one point. I found it pretty funny that SO MANY Canadians thought that Americans thought everyone up there lives in igloos. WE DON'T! I haven't met one person who thought that yet.

When I lived in Washington, and went to high school, alot of kids were curious if I actually had a dog sled ect. I told them NO, that's stupid! We are a modern country with excellent technology and resources...we drive SNOWMOBILES to get to the cities and from there we FLY to civilization.

So maybe it's a$$holes like me who perpetuate the steroetype.:heh:

LOL! Yeah, I noticed that y'all love to perpetrate that stereotype and laugh at us while we look at you with our stupid expressions, like "are you serious?" They also liked to quiz me on the provinces. They got a good laugh out of that one, too.

I alway "make the attempt" to take my shoes off but lately, people have been asking me to leave the shoes on. One friend explained to me that socks or bare feet have skin oil in them and dirty the carpet. Best bet is to take a pair of clean slippers or shoes with you. Can't imagine being all dressed up at a house party and being in stocking feet, can you? LOL

I have a basket at the front door with slippers for everyone. I buy the washable ones too. I would hate for anyone to come in my house with their shoes on. OMG do you know the dirt that they walk on outside ewwwwww.

Ok I am American So Califorina Desert (Palm Springs Area) - we don't take our shoes off when we go to other peoples home - but we don't have snow or rain here in the desert so it's not like we have muddy shoes/boots

If I lived somewhere where the was weather issues - I would take my shoes off - so Green if I ever come and visit you I will now know in Canada I am suppose to take my shoes off... :)

For me they (shoes) are the first thing beside the bra that come off when I get home from work... But again 3/4 of the year I wear sandles not real shoes...

Haha. :heh: Grrlfriend, when I come to visit you I am going to go all crazy Canuck on you and pull off my shoes. :faint: It's a bonus to hear that I will be able to ditch the bra because I hate wearing them, too. :) I only wear 'em in company out of sensitivity to others. :phanvan

Even though I NEED to wear shoes because of my bad feet I always instinctively take my shoes off unless I am in a home where the owners have their shoes on or I have been told to keep them on.

If we all left our bras at the door, there would be a lot of bruised knees!LOL

Hahahahaha Excellent post, eh.

But going braless could be a good way to get stuff through customs: jewellery, drugs, small electronic devices, automobiles..........:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
