How many of you took body measurements?

Recommended Posts

before your surgery. I got out the ole tape measure last week and measured myself all over. I think that's just as interesting to keep track of as the number of the scale.

I also agree with lots of people who have said that even during stalls you could still be losing inches so I think I will try the plan of weighing once per week and measuring on that same day.

So those of you who did and do track measurements...how many inches have you lost?

I wish I would have taken measurements pre-sleeve. I did a few months before my band on my last Weight Watchers attempt, but I've lost my book that had my measurements.

I was scale-obsessed, and weighed daily. Luckily, I never had a true stall meaning I lost something every week. It might not have been more than 1 pound, but I never went the 2 weeks with no loss. I look back at my old pictures, and have kept 1 pair of my old pants, 1 old shirt, and 2 of my old bras just as a reminder of where I came from.

I tore up my house looking for my WW book that had my measurements because I want to see my progress in inches not just pounds or sizes.

I measured the day before surgery and do so each month. I track it in myfitnesspal . com.

I'm only two months out but did measure yesterday.

-4 hips

-4 stomach

-2 thigh

-2 upper arm

-2 waist

-2 armpit

-1 under bust

-2 bust

-1 neck

I was really happy to see the loss on the tape measure because I only let go of 3 pounds for the entire 2nd month post-op. It reassured me that something is going on and things are shifting.

I started in 22/24 dress slacks. The 18's that I was wearing to a business meeting on Friday were falling down. I had to run home and change clothes after the meeting.

I'm also taking pictures once a month on surgery day. A friend came over last night to take pictures for me. I need to go load them on my mac and see how they turned out. At one month I couldn't see any changes but maybe I'll post those as well. Friends have access to my pics. I just don't want them out there for guests to the site.

I also measured before my sleeve surgery in January (I had a band for almost 4 yrs - I don't know my original measurements at my highest weight).

I've lost 4.5" on my waist, 3" hips, 2.5" chest, .75" upper arm, 2" thigh. This was with a 25/lb weight loss.

Thanks Anna. I've been very closeted at work about my WLS. I don't want people looking at me/judging how I'm doing. I feel like this is such a personal journey but love sharing it with everyone here.

Lord yes, I measured EVERYTHING, neck, four different areas on my arms and legs, I mean everything. Even around my palms and feet! I'll be at 3 months and due for new measurements next week, so when I take them I'll post them here.

It's weird, I can see the numbers go down, feel the jeans that I couldn't even zip up right before surgery getting baggy on me now, and I can see changes in the mirror, but I really don't feel all that different yet... I guess because everything's still the same shape, just not as big?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
