Recommended Posts

:thumbup:I just called Aetna to check on the staus of my surgery and they just approved me an hour ago to have VSG on 4/20th! Don't know since it is such short notice if I can get it done that date, but I'm definately getting it done the week after. I'm so excited and nervous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm envious. I have Aetna, but I was told that due to the corporate plan we had, there was no way that WLS would ever be covered. 20 grand I wouldn't mind keeping, but oh well... health is more important than money.

Yup I must totally agree with you there ouroborous, health is so much more worth it then money. . . plus i think having paid for the surgery myself, has made me more aware of what i'm doing before i stick that piece of chocolate or something into my mouth. . .i paid $15,500 for this surgery, be damned if i mess up and gain even a single pound!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
