I'm biting my tongue to not make comments about what our previous President did to get us into the mess we're currently in.

Can we please keep politics out of our WLS support group. This is a thread to support Bernadette, not to President bash. (no harm meant to anyone)

Thank you Barbara!

I know that I'm just old school enough that seniority still means something to me! But to the new whipper snappers it means nothing, it is all about the bottom line :( Something is out there, i just have to wait for God to bring it to me!

Hi Chancie

I saw the writing on the wall for over a year, but I just did not want to think that I would be part of the downsizing. I saw it happen in lots of stores around me, all of us seasoned veterens were put out to pasture!

I was started to be stressed before work everyday too, so this is almost a blessing. I will be able to relax a little more. I worked in retail management for 20 years before I came to work for this company, so I understand all the nights, weekends and holidays! My family always hated trying to plan anything around my schedule.

Take care my dear, and put some feelers out!

So you worked for Micr........!! Well I worked for Les Schwab, and drove to Bellevue everyday!

So happy that your new venture is working out so well, good luck to you.

The retirement is one thing I DON"T have to worry about, they make it pretty easy for you to roll over. I only have 10 more years to work, so I want that money to add up as fast as possible. I made a pact with myself that I would not work past 60, and now that I'm 50 the clock is ticking.

There is nothing i can do about the money they took out of my check, as far as that is concerned it is a done deal. I still plan on writing a letter to the President of the company about how I was treated. But i need to wait until I'm a little more CALM!!

Fab, I am so sorry your loyalty for this company wasn't appreciated. BTW, could you go over your manager's head to complain about the taking your vacay days for payment? Atleast a letter informing them what happened?? That was dirty. Also, can you get your retirement out of them to roll over. Some companys put up roadblocks to you getting your retirement to move it elsewhere, delays etc. If not it is a plus that you can and don't find out the company pissed it away. So many terrible things have happened to longtime employees and then they have nothing when they leave...so sad.

I was laid off 8 years ago from my first job out of college. At that time, I was so upset, and was really worried. I had moved from Toronto to DC just for the job. I did not know that I could negotiate my severance, and was stuck with only two months of severance pay, and I could not get unemployment.

When I look back- it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I started my own business and despite the economy, I have been more successful than before. And I am so much happier writing my own check.

All this to say- this is YOUR MOMENT. When the universe closes one door, a better opportunity awaits you. Carpe Diem. You have achieved a lot through this weight loss journey, and you are strong. You will do just as well in the next WONDERFUL chapter in your life.

p.s. 50 is the new 20. Only less turbulent :party4:

Thank you Coopersmama

I know there is something out there for me, just got to be patient!! That is not a word I have used as much as I need to. I spend between 2-3 hours a day looking online for a job, something has got to come open for me. How are you doing?

PS 50 is the new 20, I just feel like too much has happened since I hit that mark :party4:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
