cookgal 0 Posted May 30, 2006 I am four days post op & think maybe I over did it today! I have been living off of Gatorade & Jello since the surgery because everything else sounds really gross to me. Today I walked quite a bit & now I feel like I am sick! I have nashua & feel like I might throw up! I know that is very bad if I throw up! I just made myself a cup of cream of mushroom Soup thinking maybe I just need something else in my stomach after the tylenol I took earlier today. Any advise? Thanks everyone for your support! :omg:
nyssa 0 Posted May 30, 2006 sometimes when you don't get enough Protein you feel ill, I found the Atkins can of Protein Drinks very helpful, it is low carbs hi protein, also popcycles (sp) really helped alot, sugar free of course!
PhotoNut 7 Posted May 30, 2006 Gatorade and jello.. sugar and Water. You aren't drinking any Protein Shakes? Of any kind? Was that Drs orders? Sounds like you did over do a weak body. Sip water, lots of water. If you cant drink Protein shakes yet and have to be on Clear Liquids, get some Nature's Best Zero Carb Isopure protein drinks. They are clear and fruit flavored, already prepared in jars. I hear of a lot of people feeling sick the first few days after surgery. Take it easy for a while. Walk short bits at a time until you are getting more protein in. Your body is going through a lot right now. Treat it with kindness
gentlespirit 1 Posted May 30, 2006 I used the Atkins Protein Drinks, too, and although I felt washed out from the surgery, I didn't feel ill. You can get 18 (I think) grams of Protein in one can and shouldn't have a problem getting it down in small sips. Hope you're feeling better soon! GeezerSue 7 Posted May 30, 2006 A really big post-op treat for me was a trip to my local Jamba juice store...you may have a similar place near you. They have since discontinued my favorites, but they still have drinks with Protein that can be added. They ARE NOT a good habit to get into, because they are liquid calories. But they are an okay treat in those "liquids only" days. And after having had TWO wls's I'm pretty sure that most post-op hunger issues can be resolved with an increass in protein. OOPS!! I just called!! They brought back my favorite. So, again, it is a TERRIBLE habit to form...but if a recent post-op on full liquids nurses one of the 16 ounce drinks--with the free protein boost and a second protein boost (a total of 28 grams of protein from this beverage)--all day long, I think there wil be some happier post-ops. http://jambajuice.com/menuguide/peanutbuttermood.html
