HEARTONMYSLEEVE 1 Posted April 8, 2010 If is official. I have been sleeved. I had surgery on Tuesday afternoon and was home Wednesday afternoon. Everything has gone fairly smooth except they almost kept me another day because I wasn't drinking enough fluids and my IV site went bad and they had to take it out. When they went to start a new one they couldn't find a usable vein, 4 people tried with a collective 10 sticks before they gave up. They even tried to find one using a portable ultrasound machine. So I look like a pin cushion. Since they couldn't get one they were going to order a picc line which I very much didn't want. So as bad as it hurt my stomach and made me nauseas I just started drinking as much as I could. I managed to get 1 and a half cups of hot Decaf tea and then they let me go. Does anyone else get severe upper abdominal cramps with every sip that goes in your mouth? Doesn't matter how big the sip it still makes me cramp when it gets down to me new stomach. Its kind of awful and am hoping to goes away shortly. I also definitely have some incision pain and discomfort but they all look good with no infection or oozing. I just wish I could get more fluids in soon. I can't wait until I start losing some weight!!!!
girldep 0 Posted April 8, 2010 Congratulations! It will take a couple of days until you don't have that pain. I started feeling better on day 4. Take it easy, you'll start to feel better slowly but surely!
Can.sleeved 1 Posted April 8, 2010 Congratulations! For me and my wife the first 18 hours was horrendously painful and then rapidly improved from there and we never had to take anything for pain after day three. It is amazing how quick you recover though. Keep us posted on your progress! All the best Russ
