Figures and % are v interesting.

Could it really be true that 1% of the population are sleeved or have any kind of weight loss surgery? That seems alot.

Also, could it be possible that a higher than average % of athetists are obese compared to believers?

Could it be possible that athetists who are overweight/obese are more likely to do something about it?

Anyway, congrats for being 1 in a million!

Actually, I just pulled the 1% figure out of... well, out of nowhere :thumbup1: I don't really know how many people have had WLS.

Hi everyone. I'm in the "non-believer hoping to soon be sleeved" catagory. I wonder what % that makes me. :scared0: Anywho, hi everyone!

I'm glad that it's becoming more socially acceptable to be an unbeliever.

Twenty years ago -- even ten -- people would assume you were a pedophile or something.

Hope all of us infidel sleevers are doing well!

Ok, this is going to sound weird, but it's perfectly honest. I believe in God, but Christians drive me crazy. Most of my friends are atheists or pagans/wiccans. Can I hang out with you guys? :-)

LOL, this thread seriously made me laugh! And God knows (ROFL) I needed that!

I'm sleeved, atheist, feminist and gay :) In which % am I? :lol0:

If 90% of devout praying Christian sleevers are very happy with their sleeves and 90% of devout atheist sleevers are very happy with their sleeves, what does that say about prayer?

I'm a Buddhist, which is the best of both worlds. I'm relegious AND I don't believe in a creator god....:^)

Indeed. I sometimes hesitate to call myself an atheist for the same reasons that someone who believes in equality for women might hesitate to call themselves a feminist: the actions of an outspoken, militant portion of the population have really cast all of us in a bad light.

I don't believe in God and never have, but I also have no real desire to "preach the gospel" of non-belief to anyone (because, what good would that do?) As I said, I just tend to live and let live and don't usually bring the subject up (because that always leads into long, pointless "why don't you believe in God? Are you angry at him? What's wrong with you?!" discussions). Of course, this subforum is FOR us, so we can be ourselves here :o

Are you in my brain? :) Couldn't have said it as thoughtful and eloquently myself. Of course, nine times out of ten, the only people who wish to engage in such conversations with you ( "why don't you believe in God? Are you angry at him? What's wrong with you?!") truly do not understand even when we attempt. Great thoughts on the subject.

I'm also an atheist. Best movie ever - "The Invention of Lying."

I was under the impression that the percentage of the US population that was atheist, agnostic, skeptical or just a general "do not believe in the all powerful space daddy" was about 20 to 25%. I've been looking for that statistic.

Anyone see Religulous?

Both my husband and I are atheists. Living in an area where a lot of people are religious and conservative about it, I've just started telling people that I belong to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and that I've been Touched by His Noodly Appendage. It usually makes questioners stare, and then start laughing...and totally deflects tension, especially if I get into my routine about carb addiction.

Now I'm going to be a healthy atheist! And with no help from, or credit given to, a non-existent deity, either.

Lol, I am SOOOOO going to start using that, and I too... love carbs. Brilliant!

I never ventured in here before. I don't think we are as small of a minority as some think. I think the minority are the ones that openly admit it. I am not saying there isn't a god, just that I have no evidence of one. I am doing my best to live for today as there might not be a tomorrow. Now if I could just get rid of the catholic guilt from my upbringing.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
