Well life is good! I am three weeks out and down 25lbs. My wife is down 11lbs. We have been enjoying bike riding this past week (although not quite like our normal bike ride just yet).

We have discovered a new love for Red sockeye salmon (high in Protein, 3 oz 20 grams)

Sometimes we wake up at 3 or 4 and have problems going back to sleep.< /p>

Has any one else experienced this?

Always! In the beginning I couldn't sleep at all, had major insomnia, took benadryl, tylenol PM, and/or nyquil as needed. . . you need the sleep for healing. . . i'm out now 3 months and sleep like the dead. . .

Russell, I'm so happy to read that you and your wife are doing so well. I too had difficulty sleeping at first. It gets better!

Many congrats to both of you. Y'all are doing great. I struggled with insomnia as well, and finally broke down and went on Ambien. I only took it occasionally, and didn't suffer any of the weird side effects. I had a 30 day RX, and it took me over 2 months to use it all. I was about 3 months out before I could get my sleep pattern back to somewhat normal. I also napped during the day and that contributed to me either staying up late, or waking up way too early.

Russell, congrats on being three weeks out! I am just a bit over 3 weeks. Since the surgery, I have also been waking up around 3 or 4 and have a little trouble getting back to sleep. Its strange because it happens no matter how tired i am. Prior to the surgery I had no problems at all falling and staying asleep. Interested to know if others have the same issue.

I also wake up in the middle of night (still after 3 months post-op), but I keep a bottle of Water on the bedside table and take a few sips whenever I do. Not sure why, but I feel much better after I do this and slip right back asleep. Guess it's my body's way of saying I'm not drinking enough Water.

Like Tiffy, I also tried Ambien, but unfortunately after a week I had the suicidal thoughts (big time!), so immediately went off it. If you get to a point that insomnia becomes a problem, don't hesitate to talk to your doctor. Like someone else said, your body needs that sleep to heal completely. Don't let it go too long. Hopefully your body will adjust soon though and it will be but a distant memory...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
