ouroborous 519 Posted April 5, 2010 Anyone know if martial arts are safe for sleeve patients (after the stomach has healed)? I'm trying to find less boring, more "fun" kinds of exercise I can participate in after my sleeve has healed, since I don't tend to succeed at things I find boring, and standing on an elliptical trainer at the gym is boring as hell. I'm just not sure what the effects of a full on sparring blow to the midriff would be post-sleeve! Thanks for any info.

As with any surgery you have to take precautions during healing, but once fully healed you should be able to participate in normal physical activity. Outside of that healing period there is nothing to make your gut more fragile--granted if your doctor says no heavy exercise for 6 weeks you still probably don't want to go full force the day after that--but there is no long term affect on how you could take a blow to the gut post sleeve.
