What kind of scale do you have? Is it accurate?

Recommended Posts

I had a Health o Meter, but it was big and bulky and I had to keep resetting the darn thing. I bought a cute round glass scales from Brookestone for $100. It has a digital read-out with weight only. It looks great in my bathroom and has been consistantly accurate. I don't like anything mechanical to talk to me...I even turned off the sound on my PC because the chinging, pinging, and tadaing drove me crazy. Silence is golden to me.

I have a Tanita scale that I got from Bed/Bath/Beyond. I love it & it reads exactly what my doctor's scale reads, so I think its accurate! It reads body fat %, body Water %, your weight and the tells you the number of calories you would need to maintain at that weight. The body fat % has something to do with the water in your body, so it is only accurate if you do it at the same time of day and not after you exercise.

I didn't realize that Health-O-Meter had a bulky version. Mine is slim and lightweight. I think it cost between $35 - $40. I like it. It has custom settings for multiple users and it keep track of your past five uses. Also shows how much you need to lose to reach your goal, body fat, etc.

Health-o-meter

Maybe That wasn't the name of mine. I bought it a long time ago. Looked liked the old fashioned ones you use to see in the Dr office that you had to slide the One Bar for 50 pound increments and the other bar for under 50 pound increments. You also had to set the zero, then you had the wobbly thing on the side you had to try to get half way between the opening. A real pain in the butt. I think the humidity in the bathroom made it crazy.

Health o meter is the one I have. It is as you described. I got it about 7 years ago. It is the same one my doctors office has. My seems to work pretty good so far. When I have myself weighed at my doctors it seems to match my home scale.

I bought my health-o-meter at Service Merchandise, at least 20 years ago. It worked great for a long time. I think moving 5 times in 3 years and the high humidity in South Texas was too much for it.

I have a Weight Watchers scale. It is the best and definately most accurate one I have ever owned. It has alot of features, and you can select different users.

I got it at Linens N Things for around $60. I love it.

I have the tall doctor's scale too, and I love it. It goes to 350 so I always knew the awful truth about my weight. Mine must be in pretty good condition (though it's not at all new) because I've never had to set the 0. And it has a bubble level indicator (like that in a carpenter's level) to show the weight.

I think mine's Health-O-Meter, too. That's just a brand name; they make lots of models. It's accurate enough for me--that is to say, consistently at home. My PCP now weighs me on a regular mechanical step-on thing they have in the (carpeted) hallway, so I completely disregard what THEY think I weigh. (My surgeon has an electronic doodad, but I haven't been weighed there in a looooong time.)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
