Financing w/ Aceves

Recommended Posts

I am 98% sure I am going to Aceves to get sleeved this summer (hopefully in June:thumbup:).

The email I got from Nina said:

"*Financed procedures may incur in additional fees, please call us for details."

Did anyone here finance with either of the 2 medical credit companies that Aceves uses? If so, anything to be warned about or was it all smooth? Were there additional fees?

Thanks in advance!

Nicole

I financed with My Medical Loan for Dr. Aceves and there is a fee of $500 that they charged me. A one time fee that the finance company charged. I only was approved for $7000 with a "Health One Visa". I was going to pay the rest out of my checking account and use my debit card. Dr. Aceves' office charges a 3% fee for using a credit card. If you use a money order, cashiers check or travelors checks, you can avoid the 3% fee. You can try for a personal loan with your bank or credit union to avoid the finance charges.

Capital One also does medical financing via an unsecured credit card, or they used to! Who knows with the current state of affairs with lending. Their interest rate is based on your credit rating. If you can afford to make larger payments, the interest you are paying is less. I agree with Dalisgirl tho that your own bank or credit union might be much better.

Many businesses are starting to pass the 3-4% fee the credit card companies charge them to process the transaction on to the customers. That is why American Express is/was accepted by so few businesses. AE doesn't charge interest to their customers who pay the account off monthly, so they had to make money somewhere. They did it by charging 5-7% of each transaction as well as a monthly fee to the business.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
