I used to have a palomino mare, she was such a sweetheart. Now I'm just waiting for spring to come in earnest so it's more fun to get out there.

Haven't been on a horse for a long time. . . after i gained so much weight didn't think it would be nice to sit on the poor things. . . we have an equestrian center over here where i live and as soon as i lose the 99 lbs i have left, i may just stop over there and go on a trail ride . . .take daughter along as well. . . she would love it. . .

Hi there - yes I am a horse lover! We have 2 horses as well, but I leave the riding to my husband as too fat at the moment. My surgery is cheduled for 5 May and hoping that I will lose enought to ride again in the not too distant future!

What do you do with your horses and what type are they?

At the moment the horses are pasture ornaments: one is a Swedish Draft Horse, the other an Andalusian. But I like all kinds of horses, really :001_rolleyes:

If I'm into anything it's dressage and trail riding. Haven't been riding much now, though - never even sat on the Andi, she's so little... But once summer comes I thought I'd get to take her for a ride, too.

What horses do you have?

Have a big shire thoroughbred cross - 17.2 in shoes lol! He is really hubby's horse and does cross country and hunting.

My guy is a little fat cob - he's pretty much retired now but still bossing the others about in the field!

The way you're going with the vsg you'll be riding again in no time!

Back again and have been riding again, and it was great! More fun than I've had in a long time. It's funny finding your seat bones all of a sudden, and needing to re-evaluate your balance in the saddle. I'm down to weighing about 163 pounds or 11.6 stone (I'm metric system so I hope Google converted those right, 74 kg is what the scales are at) and it's a huge change. I'm so happy I can ride again without having to pity the horses too much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
