OK ... When I look at my stats, I think I've done really well. In Vegas last week, I was feeling pretty good about myself. 31 pounds in 2 months & wearing 12/14 clothes.

Well, today I took my measurements. I only lost 4 inches in the past month. I've also only lost 1.5 pounds in 12 days. And, to make matters worse, I saw the vacation pictures - I still look HUGE.

Part of me knows that I am much better off than I was on 1/27/10, but the other part of me is feeling down. I am working so hard - why can't I be a big loser??? I am so tired of being fat.

I don't know what I want someone to say. Just needed to vent. I'm not giving up (I can't anyway - my stomach is too small to binge eat). Just wanted a friend (or friends) who would understand.

Mini, I think you're doing awesome! Thirty pounds is huge in two months. Pick up three ten pound bags of potatoes and climb a flight of stairs. Then come back and say it isn't much. You are just about half way to your goal. You're really rocking this!

We're all going to lose the weight. I hit six weeks today and in the last two weeks, I've only shed 1 pound. I know that the rest of the 60 will follow. And yes, I look in the mirror and I still look big to me, but less than 6 weeks ago.

Your body needs a chance to catch up. It's fighting your because 30 lbs in 2 months is a lot of weight to lose that quickly. That's 15 lbs a month!

You're doing great! I am sure your eating had to be a little off cause on vacation you can't eat like you can at home.

Don't worry! The rest will come off. Watch your carb intake and it will come off and you'll feel great.

I still looked really fat in pictures when I lost 75 lbs so I know the camera adds weight to us.

MiniMe,

10 lbs a month is average, so you are ahead of the pack! Just keep on putting one foot in front of the other, and you will be at goal in no time!

You are doing fabulous Mini! Like Determined said, whats lost is lost. . .it won't be coming back. . .i still see the big fat girl in the mirror every day. . . my highest weight was 350 lbs. . then on surgery day i weighed 332 lbs. . . i still see 350 lbs. . . my clothes, family, and co-workers tell me the truth about my weight loss, but until i see 230 or less. . . i don't think i'll ever accept that i'm losing fast enough either. . . aren't we weird. . .it took us most of our lives to gain the weight and get obese, now we want it gone within a few months just cause our tummies are smaller. . . weird us. Like my daughter said "Mom you'll never be happy with just 1 thing huh?" Bless her heart. . . good luck, keep on going it'll come off. . . your probably in a stupid stall right now. . .

Oh Mini,

Hang in there friend. From the moment I started looking at the boards you were a person to watch for me! I adore your attitude about this process and seriously 15 lbs a month. When were you able to do that before? I was part of a biggest loser competition for 12 weeks once and worked out 3 hours a day and was exhausted ALL THE TIME, and guess what I lost a whopping 18 lbs. I learned NO new life skills and as soon as the competition was over I gained 60 lbs. This is different. This isn't temporary. You are learning to cope with life without food as a friend. Even if you hadn't lost a single pound yet, isn't that so spiritually liberating to not be owned by something so silly as food? I am thrilled for you, and know that you will keep losing. And the perceptions of our old bodies may take a long time to change, but don't forget to love yourself through this lady. You are my rock star!

Mini, you are doing fantastic. We are all going to have those days where we don't feel like we have done well. I think it's just part of our journey and to be expected. One day last week I told Hubby, "Today I feel like I'm back to my orginal starting weight". He just gave me the weirdest look. lol Some days I feel fat, and other days I feel like I've lost weight. The good thing is the scale doesn't lie. WE are making progress. Keep it up girlie!!!

I'm a week away from my sleeve surgery.....so I can't cheer you on from "that side" of the process. I just wanted to send so good mojo to you. Being honest...telling the truth and getting it out of your system is a great and healthy thing to do....

Cheering you on from Philly!!

People keep telling me ... "It took a life time to put it on ... and it will not come off overnight.

Maybe .. and I'm not expert, you should take a look at the type of clothing your wearing ... could it be that it is not as slimming as it could be. I know that often times people will wear a size or so to big because they are not yet used to their "smaller" self!

Personally .... I think 30 lbs is fantastic. Slow and steady wins the race. Again, personally, I hope I don't lose it too fast. The more steady pace I can take the more chance I have of keeping it off by learning the process.

All the best to you, hang in there.

John

Mini, hang in there and don't beat yourself up. I just came off of a 4 week stall and my surgery was only a couple of days before yours. You have less weight to lose to begin with so going a little slower is probably to be expected. Regardless, as the others have said, 30 lbs in 2 months is amazing.

I feel like you in that I have felt like I was looking good because my clothes are smaller than they have been since I can't remember when. Then, a picture gets taken (one this past weekend for me) where I look as big as I ever did to me.

As frustrated as we all get with slowdowns, we have to remember that there really is no way this won't work for us as long as we aren't sabogating ourselves with milkshakes all day long.

Hang in there. You are amazing!

I am so very glad that you posted this!!

I am one day behind you in surgery and I have been feeling the EXACT same way!!!

I think the reason is that we dont have as much to lose??

We just gotta hang in there and think positive.

I know I havent been getting enough Water in lately but............

Big Big H uG!

I sometimes think I would like all cameras to banned (especially hard as we have two professional photographers and umpteen amateur photographers in our family!) I would love to get a really good photograph of my 3 kids and myself and husband, but as far as I'm concerned I always spoil the picture!

You are doing well and you will continue to do well - even if it takes a little longer than you hope or expect. Just give it a little time xx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
