achopp 0 Posted March 31, 2010 Hi all, Had my sleeve done yesterday, 3/30, at around noon. It's now 1:30 the next day, and I'm feeling alright. The pain seems to come and go. I've been trying to walk once an hour. I tool the leak test, and while I don't have a leak, the doctors said that the liquid was going down slower than they hoped, so I am still on a no liquid diet and I can't go home yet. This kind of scared me, has anyone else had a hard time getting liquid down the day after? It feels "stuck" in my throat. Also, how long does it take for the gas to leave your body? Last night the gas pain was so bad I was regretting even doing the surgery. thanks, andrea
BigLoser 0 Posted March 31, 2010 Congrats, Andrea! My doc had me on liquids right after surgery. They did leak test the next day and it was really slow. He wasn't worried. Sent me home with all the normal instructions. My gas lasted in my chest and diaphragm for 3-4 days. So painful when I got home, I was having spasms with every breath. Never heard anyone else having that problem, so I wouldn't worry. Hope they release you soon...good luck!
5150sleeve 0 Posted March 31, 2010 :lol0:Congrats! You got the most difficult part out the way and now it's downhill from here!!! You will be looking at this pain as a blur when u start geting the results you want. I only had gas pain the first two days, so when I went home on the fourth day I was feeling wonderful. Did you try any medication to help for the gas? Gas-x strips, etc. Walking helped a lot with the gas. I walked a lot right after the surgery.
LAN2k 18 Posted March 31, 2010 Congratulations on being sleeved. It's a good thing that your surgeon is taking extra precaution. In the beginning so should you but don't get yourself worried sick. Try to stay in the moment and before you know it this too shall pass and you will be up and running. For now do keep up the walks and what helped me alot was moving my arms up above my head. I did that even while sitting up in bed. Keep us informed of your progress. Best wishes.

pnw218 14 Posted March 31, 2010 Congrats Andrea! Glad you are done with that part of it! You may just be swollen from the surgery. I didn't think I would ever be able to take a real drink again and I was sooo thirsty. Popcicles really helped. You will feel better each day. Relax, sleep and let it pass. You will be very happy soon!
