riverratgranny1 0 Posted June 3, 2006 Hi,Lana Ruth, I believe it's normal to get the jitters the closer to the procedure because one moment I want it and the next I get scared. I had to ask myself what will I be like in a year from now if I don't and to be truthfull I probably would still be fat, unhappy and most important on my way to a heart attack or stroke because it runs in my family. I don't have the self control to loose wt without some kind of help. then I look at my skinny pictures of the past and I really want to look and feel like that again. At least this is reversible if you decide you can't stand it but I bet when the LBs come off you will be happy. Good Luck, Audrey
DOC 0 Posted June 3, 2006 River, I was also banded by Dr. Rumbaut. Some "have to's" for you to avoid any problems later. 1. Line up a doctor in your area for an emergency. Don't just call the office. Go see him/her. 2. Find a fill doctor in your area that will treat patients banded in Mexico. 3. Find a support group you can go to .... I did all three of these and thank goodness I haven't had any medical problems. I the only thing that didn't work out for me was the support group. I registered at the local hospital and spoke to them. When I went to first meeting they were all Gastric Bypass people. They were nice, but the issues they were having I couldn't relate to. There a lot of people who didn't do the work ahead of time and came back from Mexico with no plan. Good luck,
PhotoNut 7 Posted June 3, 2006 Welcome to LBT Riverratgranny1 and Lana Ruth! River, there are a lot of folks here who were banded by Dr. Rumbaut and I've only heard great things about him and his team in Monterey. DOC gave you some very good and very important advice. Be sure you follow it! :girl_hug: Lana, why dont you start a new thread in the Introductions Forum so you can get more responses and that way Riverratgranny's thread can be focused on her question. I wish both of you the very best in your upcoming surgeries and weightloss journeys!
DonnaB 3 Posted June 3, 2006 Hi riverratgranny1, I was banded by Dr. Rumbaut - he's awesome as are the facilties and his staff. My whole experience in Monterrey was positive - right down to the leather handbag I purchased while on a shopping trip 48 hours after surgery!!!!! lol I agree with DOC - make sure you have follow up care and don't just rely on a phone call. Make an appointment and see the doctor for a consultation BEFORE you go to Mexico. Good luck on your journey. Feel free to PM me anytime if you have any specific questions.
