Hello! I have my sleeve surgery with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali on April 6th. I'm been reading his information which strongly recommends filling a prescription for Nexium Mups before leaving Mexico. (I wasn't able to locate them in the U.S. after a short Internet search??) It's a pricey prescription but I'd hate to be without it if I needed it. I have a recently-sleeved friend and she swears by them. I'm curious what some more post-op sleevers' experience has been with this prescription. Thanks!

Mups? Is that just regular Nexium? I take 40mg a day. The resident who wrote my script did it for 20's twice a day. His boss, my surgeon, said I can take them together or twice a day. He just wanted me to get the 40mg in my body. He then gave me a script for 40mg at my follow up. Personally, I would see if my doc could write me a script here and get it filled. If not, El Farmacia is on just about every corner in Mexico.

I just went for my pre op testing and I will be having surgery on April 5th and Lucy gave me a prescription for 20mg once daily for 3 months and I went to the pharmacy down there and it cost me $155 for 3 months.

Hi. This is my first post to the board though I have been reading and gaining helpful knowledge and information for a couple of months now. I was sleeved with Dr Aceves on March 19th of this year. I asked Lucy what Mups meant and she said that it means they are made to easily dissolve in liquid.< /p>

We bought the nexium mups at the pharmacy right across the street from the hospital and it was I believe for $80 for 40mg, which I halved for the dose of 20mg per day per Dr. Aceve. Didn't need an RX for it either. The mups dissolve in Water. He likes you to stay on the mups until about 3 months for precaution, instead of pills, but you might check again with Dr. Aceves staff.

Ruth

I was one of the lucky ones, I have never had any heartburn. So I can't give you any advice on that. Another suggestion, call your PCP and see if they have any samples to give you. That would save you some money, and maybe you won't even need them.

Good luck on your upcoming surgery!!

I take protonix instead of nexium and I take the generic form of it.

I get it for $10 for 60 pills. Protonix is every bit as good as nexium.

The mups part is that they disolve but Protonix is a very tiny pill and easy to take.

The nexium is tiny too. My doc simply prescribed regular, no mups thing... obviously since I didn't know what mups was LOL I didn't have an issue taking them even while in the hospital.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
