Today is my fourth day post op. I decided to weigh tonite and found that I am only nine pounds down..thank you liquid diet. But none since my surgery. Could this be post operative "stall"? Don't get me wrong, I don't expect to see 10lbs gone, but just thought there would be more. My second thing is tonite

tonite my hubby came in with a bowl of shrimp Alfredo...smelled delish, garlicky. It was the first time I had even an intrest in food, and rely wanted it. Told sweet hubby to leave bc it smelled too good :/. He did :(. Is this normal...and to think about some old favorites, but not really want them? Ugh! Help!

I don't know what you started at weight wise but there really isn't a "normal" - there are so many variables. I wouldn't panic yet tho : ) Give it a chance to work. I wasn't expecting to lose much possibly because of the Water weight from IV, like FreetobeMe, so was surprised that I was down when I got home.

And yes, I loved the smells of the Mexican food they were cooking for the guests of the patients - and that was just the day after surgery! LOL The mental is hard for me; I am hoping it gets easier. As the pounds fall off tho, it is all worth it. I think on day 2 post-op, I had a few spoonfuls of Soup broth. It was so good!!! : )

Hang in there!

I considered iv fluids.. bc they gave me a ton since I couldn't urinate (anestheisia) . After 1 1/2 days of a cathater I finally did... bUt I was given a lot of fluids and felt pretty bloated! Thanks!

This is definitely not a stall - give it a little more time :-)

Also, as far as the smells go - for the first week, almost all smells made me nauseous - but then everything smelled good and I had to deal with the fact that I was choosing not to eat those things. Then later I got bored and had to deal with not eating out of boredom. Luckily, the sleeve makes it so that you simply won't overeat because it hurts - so it helps you learn to adjust very quickly.

You'll do great - hang in there!!!

When I came home from the hospital my weight was up 5 pounds due to the IV fluids. Hang in there. It will happen.

I gained almost 10 pounds when I got home from the hospital from all the fluids. Also, I wanted to KILL my fiance (also for shrimp alfredo!) because it smelled so good. In the beginning, I really struggled with wanting what food other people had just because I couldn't have it, not because I actually wanted to eat it. :biggrin0: It goes away though! Keep doing what you're doing & it will start falling off!

I had my surgery Wednesday, I weighed 230 going in and 240 coming out! I was dehydrated when I went in so they ran tons of fluids through my IV.

Thanks so much everyone ! It is so nice to talk to people who have been there. I am maintaining a positive outlook because honestly, I feel better 5 days post op than I have in years. This is going to be great! Good luck to you robbiehague.. We'll get thru it together!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
