We are finishing up our vacation and I had a little problem today. Last night we went out to eat and I ordered steak. I couldn't finish (of course) so I brought most of it home. For lunch, I heated it up and ate it. I ate WAY too fast. I was just trying to do too much at once and I wasn't thinking. :( I was sitting in our room and all of a sudden I was saying "Pain, pain, pain" and then I ran to the bathroom. I did vomit (or just kind of regurgitated the food) it right back up. The pain right before throwing it up was unbelievable. I was so scared I had done something to my tummy. Well, for the most part the rest of my day has been pretty normal. I was able to eat tonight with no issue. However, now I am having pain around my stomach area. Not unbearable, it just feels sore. Normal or no? Anyone had this? Again, it certainly is not awful pain, but it just kind of hurts. :( We head back home tomorrow and I have a 16 hour car ride in front of us. :(

BTW, I am 9 weeks out if that makes any difference. I am on pretty much any food. It was only steak that came up-I had not eaten anything I wasn't supposed to.

That sounds miserable : ( Did your surgeon give you a 24 hour nurse line to call? Or do you have one thru your health insurance?

Hopefully it is just soreness and nothing more serious. I would be interested to hear what you find out.

Feel better!

Just my personal experience with reheated/microwaved meat has been troublesome. When I have had something either not go down right, or not chewed it well, or swallowed too fast, and I had to do that weird creeper/vomit thing. Yes, my sleeve hurt afterwards and I was not able to eat anything solid for a few hours.

If you can call your surgeon's office, and see if there is anything that will help. I typically stick to super warm Soup and warm liquids when this happens for a few hours.

Be safe in your travels, and let us know what transpires.

Well, I know something about food, just can't address the physical sleeve issues.

When you cut a steak a lot of the juices leave the steak, even as it is sitting on your plate same thing is happening and you wind up with something pretty dry to bring home. If you reheat steak that has already been cooked to temperature the first time, you should steam it or reheat it slowly in a little beef gravy (making roast).

What happened to you is VERY scarey because of the pain you felt. I guess you met your sleeve today. I guess the advice to back off to really soft warm foods and see how it goes is good. Very scarey indeed. I know you are concerned, but hopefully 9 weeks was plenty of time for a good bit of healing. I've only thrown up twice since the hospital and it was actually so smooth with no pain. That steak must have hit your sleeve or esophagus all in the wrong position or so.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
